App store ranking list, principle?
hello Forum,
From time to time I check the music app ranking list in app store or at the app sliced website, to see if I have overlooked something useful or important.

I see apps moving a lot in the list, but also apps that stay there for a long period. Like some older sequencer apps from the past.
So I am wondering, how does this ranking works, total revenue ever, or downloads in a certain period? And global, or for different markets? When there is discount you see apps moving up for a short time.
This might be answered in the past already, if so I have not searched good enough.
