... it's entirely possible to go a few years without paying WUP.

It is, unless you need to be able to use the plug-ins on 2 computers. Even if you only ever use one at a time, you can only install on 1 without a current WUP.

I don't have any issues to paying for upgrades. I do have an issue with them 'taking away' a second license after a year. Most developers allow you to install on multiple computers.

I don't pay any other developers an annual fee to allow me to install on more than one computer.

The solution for me is easy. I don't use any Waves plug-ins as I want to be able to open my projects on more than one Mac as I don't want to rent the ability to install plug-ins on 2 computers. Waves are the only developers I have plug-ins from that require an additional fee for this.

Yeah! There're a few gotchas that sour the experience.

If you miss out on the Intro price, you might have to wait for literally minutes until the next Waves sale.

But will there be a sale on the sale of a sale?

  • Every time a new sample browser product comes out I get all excited. "Browse your entire sample library in one place." The problem is NO REX SUPPORT. Doesn't matter if it's free. It's of little use as a browser if it leaves out half my sample loops library!
