iOS audio production just gets better and better
This is not AB-related but should be interesting to all (independent of whether you like the style of music). It's an Apogee promo, featuring the One DI which is iOS-compatible. They used Beatmaker for the tune-making process. The end result was mixed in Auria and uploaded to the iTunes Store. It sounds spectacular, better than any iOS-based production I've heard yet.

Very interesting demo. If only they had mastered it in Final Touch or Mastering, it would be completely iOS!
I have the apogee one, it's a very cool interface that has been extremely useful.

I kind of assuming that as they mixed in Auria, they probably mastered with it too. I can't make out what is open in the channel strip though.
Anyone identify which speakers they are using?
@thinds I believe he says in the video that he had professionally mastered, but maybe I should watch it again...
Me too:-) I took it to mean he used a professional engineer. Nice job done anyway.
@thinds I'm in the process of finishing some track done completely in iOS using AB, Auria, Final Touch (among others) and I'm really impressed with how polished they sound. I was a working engineer for many years and I just can't get over how amazing this new technology is!
I guess Rap & Hip Hop are switching from Old School to Home School! Word up.
Regarding mastering, it appears to me it was done on the iPad. Apogee's page says this: "Beatmaker 2 and Wave Machine Labs – Auria, Jon-John laid out an incredible track for K.Jackson and JAY-R to showcase their talent, using only ONE’s built in internal microphone. Ian Boxill then lent his magic to the track on the final mix and mastering… All done with the iPad and Apogee ONE!
After Ian Boxill finished mixing and mastering, Jon-John Robinson uploaded the finished track to iTunes where you can download the finished track “Turn me up” by K. Jackson featuring JAY-R."

Final track sounds really good. Not to take away from the great tools available on iOS but those dudes are some heavy hitters. They could make a low end Tascam 4-track cassette deck with a radio shack mic sound pretty incredible!

I asked Mr. Robinson, and he told me they are Reftone speakers.
