Upcoming Cem Olcay App, Really Ties the Room Together

Based on a recent tweet @cem_olcay he is working on an app to CC all the Bud apps patterns and snapshots to help making full blown tracks even easier, I’m pumped.

  • YES! I usually dump my Bud sequences into Cells or Helium, but being able to sequence a bunch together is going to be crucial. Wow.

    Rozeta Cells will take sequences?

I love the concepts of the apps i just cannot stomach the UI. I’m a very visual person and appreciate care and craft of UI when i use apps.

I feel like I’m looking at a glorified spreadsheet at times. There’s no sense of rhythm or hierarchy or focus when i look at a majority of the apps. Everything in the UI has the same level of importance and ergonomically i find it quite frustrating and uninspiring to use.

I think these apps would be even better if they had a proper UI Designer give them attention to detail. The feature set it there. The concepts are fantastic.

Just look at BramBos apps. Super high concept apps with gorgeous UI.

Hopefully this critique will be properly received because i want to use these apps…but i can no longer bring myself to use them because of this disconnect.

As a step/MIDI recorder, you can feed MIDI into Cells. It isn't drag and drop, pardon my wording if that's what it seemed I was implying.

I understand your dilemma, I feel the same although look past UI stuff for great functionality and features. The budget for UX is probably not there yet. I truly love beautiful design myself. I’m guilty of buying apps, especially games and music apps, that are aesthetically pleasing more than anything else 😂

Yea you can step record into cells. I usually use Atom 2 or Helium.

  • I’m hoping he will finish the sample accurate timing project as well. He solved it and changed it in a few apps, but still needs to work on the rest.

  • “He peed on the dudes rug.”

  • Honestly I wish he would just combine them all into one app
that does chords, scales, melody, bass, etc. this is the real problem
That is why he has to make a sequencer app to tie them together....

  • Personally I like the route Cem is going down… In August 2021 I posted this in a thread about (semi) automating creations…
‘If any developers read this I do think there is some serious mileage in being able to sync (more then BPM) multiple apps together. Especially where multiple apps are developed by the same people it would be nice to have an option to propagate the key, scale, rate etc through the apps. This would really open the possibility of a PM (Piano Motifs) type scenario where the press of a button created an entire multi part piece🎼‘

To agree with you from the opposite perspective: this is exactly why I find it difficult to let go of Nanostudio. I do need audio, BUT the clear and functional beauty that is dev created is just too good.

Yeah. Nano studio is a beautiful user interface experience because of its wonderful UI. Good call.

I agree. I think the last few apps he's developed, Snakebud, Melodybud and Scalebud 2 are well thought out and really useful even in combo with other apps. So I'm looking forward to this one. A while back I suggested to him that he make a "CCbud" so I'd like to think I helped to push him in that direction. ;)

    So it’s your fault! ;P
