Maybe A Mentor System?
In the “forum thread” discussion the subject of noobs and their basic questions was discussed… should newcomers to the iOS experience research the ABF archives before posting a thread?
That got me to thinking of my own experience here. When I first started I was kindly informed no question was too basic or silly… ask away! And several forum members truly kept me in the game when, if left to my own devices (no pun intended), I would probably have guttered out,
So, why not offer to beginners a personal iOS Big Brother/Sister? Then the basics can be switched to PMs between the mentor mentee. I certainly would volunteer for that. The interesting thing is that mentors could delineate what special interests they have to offer. I would only help those interested in using an analog DAW like Cubasis, for example.
So, is that an interesting idea worth discussing? As in how to implement such a system?

I do think it is an Interesting idea. People would have to sign up somehow, opt in. However on the con side, It will add a certain amount of responsibility to a big brother. Also, there’s tons of stuff I still don’t know, I learn something new everyday. learning is a life long process. Therefore it helps to have communal answers, since someone in this forum is bound to have an answer, when others may not.
I do like the idea, but in practice it might be a little difficult to implement.
If anyone wants to learn how to make mediocre-to-bad tracks that no one wants to listen to, I’m your guy!
Lol. Don’t sell yourself short. I bet mine are just as mediocre as yours, lol.
I’m a noob in disguise.
I strongly believe that a quality search function would help a lot.
For whatever reason, the local google search sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't.
Yea, I agree, I think some filter, sorting, etc.. options would really help.
Lol. We all are.
Yes, plus search results that really include the strings that I've searched for.
We all learn as long as we breathe...
Isn’t @wim a defacto mentor.
There are several others who regularly help answer questions in almost every thread. It’s one of the things what makes this place.
On the other hand, I need a mentor for composition
So true. there’s always more to learn. That’s not even counting things that change or new things coming out all the time.
True. @wim has helped me many times.
I try to tinker around with Tonality and learn as I go
Maybe the upcoming Scaler 2 will make this process a bit smoother for all...
It works......if youre looking for 2-4 year old threads. Which is probably why the zombie threads happen quite often.
The entire forum could be upgraded, but I'm sure its pretty far down Michael's list (as it should be).
