Gypsy Klezmer and Leonard Cohen

edited February 2022 in Other

Dance Me Till The End Of Time. Cohen turned toward this type of music at the end of his career. The singer is beautiful.

And here’s another by the same group. It’s an odd rejoinder to the post about Hirumi, but joyful playing is joyful playing. It doesn’t matter where in the world it comes from. The feeling is the same.

  • Very cool thanks for this! It reminds me of this weird discovery I had in a Tower Books and Records in Seattle in about '97 or so that was in a discount bin at the register. The CD was "Musica Alhambra" by Juan Martin. It's an exploration of the influences that combined to make flamenco, from Indian dance forms through to Sephardic and Arabic and more modern Spanish. I think you would enjoy it. I tried to find a good version of it on YT, but I failed. The order matters. The linear notes matter. It seems to be on Apple music and maybe others, but I don't see the linear notes anywhere. The link to
    Juan Martín's website is https://flamencovision.com/product/cd-musica-alhambra/

  • Time to head east for some source music. For drone lovers, too…

I’m a big fan of both klezmer music and Leonard Cohen. Good call @LinearLineman :) Bring on the burning violins ( and sample them!) :)
