Their early albums were fantastic. Check them out if you haven’t heard them.
Agree. Loved that stuff. What a voice!
RIP, Gary.
So sad to hear. The live concert in Denmark was legendary.
As my late 98 yr old mom would say… “Young!’. Procol Harem and Gary really gave me a musical gift that never wore thin. A Salty Dog was perhaps my favorite. Their music was pure theater.
So sad. I loved this guy. Whiter shade of Pale, Humburg, Salty dog, ... magnificent!
What a voice, what atmosphere and beautiful moving melodies.
Loved also Broken Barricades with Robin Trover.
Still have all these Vinyles.
Recently recorded a cover of A Salty Dog with seven or eight friends, live in the studio. Beautiful, epic song. Sorry to learn about Gary.
@Schmotown … would love to hear that,
RIP... Bring Back memories...
Thanks @LinearLineman. I would love to hear it, too. One member of our group is a recording engineer who does the mix for anything that might be worth sharing and he’s been backed up with album projects, moving houses, etc.
There’s no guitar on the original so I figured I’d be hanging out in the control room but when I walked in that day, our “leader” said, “Okay, you’re on acoustic. Figure something out.” I’d never played the song and it has a lot of changes so it was a pretty intense experience. After 15 or 20 takes, we had the keeper.
BTW, the previous day we had tracked “Roundabout” with more people on mic. Maybe three hours of do-overs. Waiting to hear that one, too.
