  • Pretty big news, Baby Audio jumping into iOS AUv3 development.

They are immerse in the task of porting all its plugins to Mac ARM native builds.

So the shared architecture between M1 Macs and iOS is paying off.

I suppose that other small developers will start to do the same thing the next year, once they complete the task of finishing the ARM builds.

Madrona Labs for example, has confirmed that they will try to port their synthesizers once they have completed the migration to Mac ARM.

  • Madronas stuff is really nice

  • Their Spaced-Out plugin is great, love that they used that as an inspiration for Magic Dice.
Just uploaded a demo video for both apps

  • This is very nice for free :)

  • edited February 2022

Both sound great and it’s very exciting to see Baby Audio come to iOS! Fingers crossed this leads to more releases down the line, would absolutely love to have smooth operator on iPad in particular.

  • Free and ios11. Good news! Thanks, mate!

  • Super stoked about baby audio coming to iOS!!!! They've got some of the best plugins on the entire desktop market.

  • Oh, nice to see this developer on iOS!

  • Echoing the posts above, great to see Baby coming to iOS and hint hint happy to pay for good stuff!

  • Magic Dice aswell so 2 free plugins. Neat.

  • Very nice indeed.

  • Good stuff. Will buy their reverb when it comes out.

Nice!. Thanks for that. So if I understand correctly when you’re randomizing with the dice and you find something you like, you can save that exact effect as a preset?.

Correct, but inside Aum. Better to give them proper names and not just numbers.

Woke up to your demo which is how I found out about these. Thanks!

Lmao I’m so bad about giving presets the most nonsensical names, I’ll have to be sure to properly name these so I don’t cycle through dozens to find “the one” 😂

  • While all the attention has gone to Magic Dice, Magic Switch has made me a Baby Audio believer and convinced me of buying Super VHS.

Such a luxurious and warm sound, I love this little thing.

Thank you, and yeah, I hear that. I don't name my presets in a cool original way like when devs create their apps, but rather just simple short explanations of the preset ("weird backwards delay", "chill atmosphere" et-al).

I have a preset on one app called Peepee and I have no idea what it does lol

  • Is it better to save the oreset inside AUM or the plug in?

If you want to also use the preset in something else like Cubasis I guess you should save it in the plug in... is that coreect.

What is the benefit of saving a preset inside AUM?

  • ?
There is no preset management in the plugin, so you’ll have to save in host/DAW.
Besides, it’s one button... what is there to save?

Easy backup and transfer to other devices. The AUM app presets are accessible to the Files app. They're in the "Audio Unit Presets" folder. The long string is the AudioComponentDescription identifying the AUv3.

So you'd suggest saving in AUM?

When I have the pulg in running in AUM and go to save my preset in the plug in, I get a pop up menu giving me a choice of saving my preset in the plug in or in AUM.

Did you try to save in the plug-in? It won’t let you saying the plug-in doesn’t have that, so not an option

Yes. I saved in the plug in and it seemed to work. I just wasn't sure if that was the best choice.

I got an error message saying the plug-in doesn’t save presets inside the Baby Audio app so I suspect you actually saved it in AUM.

    You could be correct.

I opened Magic Dice in Cubasis and my presets were not there.

Very few Aus and hosts have implemented the system's relatively new save/load preset from AU option.

  • Novation just dropped a nice 'Freebie' and this time it was Baby Audio's Parallel Aggressor...

...since I've now got it 'free' for my Mac I will get it for iPad the moment it's released as AUv3! :sunglasses:
