Of all of the musical creations of yours that I have listened to, I think the opening moments of this are the most beautiful. I am glad you chose to reprise them later. Really well crafted. A welcome ray of sunlight in what has been a very dark week.
Thank you, Mac. I wish the inspiration for this was something beautiful, but it wasn't. When I was in my 20's, I met an old man in his 90's. I was a friend of his grand daughter. Long story short, I found myself alone with him in his living room one evening and I said to him "Your grand daughter told me..." He gave me a steely look and said. " I have never told my children, or my grand children about this." There was a awkward moment of silence... then he said... "I will tell you if you wish to listen".
"Yes, sir"
And he told me.
Well, I think it's objectively beautiful and subjectively artistic. In other words, I enjoyed experiencing the ride.
Just when I was ready to look elsewhere to elevate my pre-WWIII mind for diversion you posted this.
Thanks.
This also serves as a proof of the existence of God if we assume God exists to amuse me.
On second thought it bugs me when the concepts of Science and Religion are mixed in with the humanities and the party gets ruined by a failure to communicate.
No problemo.
Yes, God exists, but we exist to amuse him.
What we got here... is a failure to communicate!
@McD - Per your advice, I am now 'Paulieworld' on Soundcloud. No more crimes of music!
That, my friend, is the state of man in this hyper-connected world.
But "Survirors" is a reminder. Life goes on.
Thanks for helping me make my world a little more coherent.
I tried changing my name on SoundCloud too and it's just one field to edit, hit save and then refresh the page. Good to know.
Well written and performed piece of music @Paulieworld. Beautiful end result.
@Ben Thank you Ben. I wrote this over two years ago and forgot about it. I had reservations about posting it, due to the subject matter. I considered changing the title, but decided to keep it as-is, out of respect for a man who was there. Thank you for listening.
Really good stuff, it was giving me these rugged desert vibes at night time with beautiful vistas bathing in brilliant moonlight and dark shadows cast long upon the rocks and landscape while the stars flickered with a silvery shimmer beyond it all, the vocal harmonies were hauntingly beautiful and serene. I also really like what you did the guitar section that starts at around the 1:30 mark.
Really beautiful piece of music once again!..................Can you tell us what the old man said?
@AppleJax Thank you. As I mentioned to @Ben I did this one a few years ago, and remixed it recently. Several of the parts are new sections that I added in the last few days. That guitar part was one of them. I glad you enjoyed it.
I am still reeling from "Raze The Roof"! That is spectacularly bizarre! I need a few moments to gather my thoughts before I comment on it. Excellent production... truly great!
@Sandstorm To this day I still don't know why he told me. Perhaps it was way too much for his kids to hear. I suppose he just needed to let it go, so why not just tell this total stranger... a dumb college kid. I sat with him for what seemed like hours as he described events from the day they showed up at his door. I never went back downstairs to the party. I told my friend that I wasn't feeling well and had to leave. That's about all I can say about it.
Very…very…good.
@LinearLineman Thank you Mike.
Even if you created it many years ago the vibrations you made never disappeared or dissolved, the new parts were born and joined with the ones that came before them to create a new dimension of the same concept true beauty like the truth is timeless so I don’t particularly care when you made it, I am just glad you did and so is the rest of the universe
Raze the Roof haha oh boy, it was one of those things when something just comes over you, I put the track together and arranged into a couple weeks ago and when I began dreaming up a new idea for what visual project to work on next and what track to use, the idea just fell on my head and I worked nonstop on it for about 9 hours straight.
Another very good song @Paulieworld. You are right to keep the title.
That simple eight note theme, and the title were in stuck in my head for years. I probably could have never gotten a band to play it. That's what I like about iPad music making - it gives me the freedom to do anything I like. Thank you for listening!
Wow man. That is just beautiful. I just started listening to your music and I am in that “what have I been missing” place. You were right to put this out. That particular subject matter must be in the daylight forever. You capture the sadness, tragedy intensity and hope. Going to listen a couple more times before moving on to more of your stuff.
I don't like to bump my own stuff, and have only done it a couple times. In light of everything that's going on, I thought it was appropriate now. Not a political statement, just an observation.
Interesting mix of styles. Loved the ending
Glad you bumped this @Paulieworld as I had missed it. It sounds so bright and beautiful for such a dark subject - which is no bad thing because it highlights the strength and resilience of the Survivors over what they survived. The sounds blend really well and I love that bass at the end.
I missed this one as well, glad I didn’t this time, great violin and bass 🙏
@jdp000 @AlterEgo_UK @GeoTony Pray for peace. Tell a friend. Do it now. Thanks for listening.
