  • Thanks all for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it. I think I will go for the SWAM standalone app as being able to map 'growl' etc to Midi CC sounds great for adding more expression to solos.

  • Great! I’think you’ll love it @Adamcw89. Let us know what happens. 🙏😎

  • You can also map flutter to midi, if that is useful.

  • Hi, I got SWAM tenor sax today and it sounds extremely good. Some of the parameters are locked, including flutter - I emailed the developers and they said this is due to the price difference compared with the desktop version. However they are planning to let you unlock some of these as in-app purchase in the next few months or so. Anyway I certainly am glad I asked this question as I'd never even heard of SWAM before!

    Hi,
You can modify the flutter value with a simple CC mapping.

That's dumb. The only way swam is ever gonna get desktop version money from me is if they create their own wind synth like an EWI or aerophone

They have no experience making hardware. That’s not something taken on lightly.

I"m sure anyone who does would be glad to partner with em

  • @GeoTony , I use GeoSWAM on an iPad that is connected with my stage keyboard via MIDI. However, while I can play and control parameters of native GeoShred instruments on my stage keyboard, I cannot play any GeoSWAM instrument on it (only directly on the iPad screen): as soon as I press a key, I get the following message on my iPad: "Presets using the GeoSWAM instruments can be performed from the GeoShred Keyboard or MPE controllers only. Specifically, the SWAM parameter Expression must be controlled by the MPE Channel Pressure message". This information is also on https://www.moforte.com/.

Do I understand correctly that you do control GeoSWAM values on a MIDI keyboard? If so, I would be VERY grateful if you can explain how to achieve this, or let me know where I can find information on this.

    Many thanks in advance!

  • @RHPGM , this is a warning if you are using channel 1. The Naada instruments are ok with this but the GEO… instruments require channel 2 or higher. I do t k ow if this is something you can change on your midi keyboard or via the software you are using to host GeoShred?

  • You are 100% right @GeoTony , thanks so much! Really happy that this is possible after all. Now I will need to find out how to control GeoSWAM parameters from my stage keyboard using controls other than pitch bend or modulation (and of course key pressure). I suppose I need to set this is up in the GeoShred app. Any guidance would be very welcome!

  • In essence @RHPGM , all the controls on the GS control surface at the top are controllable by a midi CC.
You can see which CC is used by , from the menu, Control Surface , click on the control you want, then click on MIDI.
This will show you the CC required. You can change this if you want + you can delete or add controls to the control surface if you want to control other things. This is a quick video of mine that shows this…

Plus there are lots of videos here by MoForte about how to set up GS

  • Thank you @GeoTony I have watched all tutorials and I am able to control e.g. Growl by controllers on my stage keyboard other than pitch bend of modulation while in GeoShred's Control Surface editor (I see the Growl slider move). However, I can no longer control the slider once I've left the Control Surface editor. Strangly, GeoShred still shows that it does receive MIDI messages from the stage keyboard, but it doesn't apply them anymore, so it looks like it doesn't store/save the MIDI setting.

Do you have any idea why this happens?

  • Are you saving the preset @RHPGM . Sometimes I have to save the preset and sometimes move off the preset and back to it again ?

  • Thank you so much @GeoTony , this was the solution indeed! Much appreciated!
