iOS midi to Maschine MK3 midi inputs

Hello all.

I have looked online but can’t find anything regarding my query.

Prior to purchasing a new cable, or midi interface, I am trying to find out if I can send the midi from iOS TKFX app (NI tracktor controller) via wired connection into the maschine mk3 midi ins, as I am using that as my audio interface.

I have used TKFX, touch OSC, over wireless, but I would like to use a wired connection if possible. As stated, I’m using the maschine mk3, which has midi In and out. I also have studiomux if that may be of use…

I’ve looked at midi interfaces, but money is tight and if I could use the ins on the maschine it would be ideal. I have camera kit for my iPhone too.

I am using TKFX to control aspects of Traktor, along with a custom midi mapping on the MK3, which also serves as the audio interface. I’m on windows 10.

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated

All the best

Mark

  • I assume you're using the Maschine USB port to connect to the computer. So you will need a USB to 5-pin MIDI converter to connect the iPhone, using the iPhone USB adapter. The lowest priced converters are those that look like a splitter cable, with a USB A connector and two 5-pin connectors.

    Anybody had this working?

As Maschine don't allow 3rd party midi fx. How about using an ipad with Midi Fx like:

Midi Keyboard Midi Out DIN -> Midi Interface Cable USB -> ipad AUM + Scaler -> Midi Interface DIN cable -> Maschine MK3 Midi DIN In

    would this work?

I guess you don't have Scaler for desktop , it will work , but you could plug directly your keyboard and ipad to your Mac (or use Bleutooth Midi if the small latency is not an issue) .

Or if you are on Windows 10 and above you could try Bluetooth midi with MidiBerry app from windows store
There is a way to get low-latency via ethernet on Windows, but it's complicated for most users , so the setup you mentioned should do the trick.
