Pretty big Latency on the internal speaker or mic on Macbook Pro 2021

I did a little in store test - where I recorded a click through the internal Macbook Pro systems speaker and the internal mic and got 44 ms latency....

This test could not reveal if it where the speakers or the mic introducing latency - but playing a sound through the speakers at low buffer felt ok so I guess it was the internal 3 mics that introduced the most latency...

I called apple and not even their senior senior support department could provide any figures on the internal latency.

Would any one with a soundcard and a mic care to do this test:

Send a ping through the internal speakers of the Macbook pro 2021 and closeup record it with an analogue mic connected to the soundcard and check the latency of the recording ??

I felt that the internals on the Mac was moving into "Demo on the road" sphere - but if the latency is so massive then its no use anyway - like using most of the bluetooth speakers with an Ipad

I bet it’s the mic. It has a bunch of processing to remove echo and so on.

I believe you can turn it off though. Try in Control Center.

Tbh I never use the built-in mic. I was planning on using it to record IRs of my rooms with Ableton. Maybe that won’t work so well.

I really hope its the mic. If the laptop speakers are almost latency free Im leaving the Ipad Pro ship and goes for a Laptop again just to have the speakers for portable use.... They sound decent enough to use on the road
