Mozaic Script - Loop through all the fx plugins in a channel
Hi,
I think there's no way to do this..... but I thought I'd ask.
In Mozaic; can you loop through all of the fx plugins on a channel (like for loop or while loop) - and then set each one to bypass?

you can if you set up midi mapping for the nodes. mozaic can't query aum about the nodes that exist. so, you cant set up a script that dynamically adjusts to a changing configuration.
You mean turn them all on for a loop cycle, then turn them all off?
Or one loop cycle uses only one effect, next loop cycle uses only next effect, etc. until no more effects, then all effects off?
Yes..... loop through each fx plugin in a specific channel, and then bypass each one.
I’m interested in this as well… maybe @_ki could chime in…
Basically like several toggle pads, that can be sequenced, then you could have a few patterns so you could change between sequences of toggling certain fx on and off. That be cool. Each pad would have to be midi mapped to each individual fx, but it doesn’t sound impossible. I know very very little about Mozaic code, so this could be a hard, and or complex, but I like the idea.
AUM allows every FX app to use MIDI events (Note, CC or PC) to bypass that app.
So, you can use a Mozaic script or a MIDI Piano Roll app (like Matrix in LK for example)
to send Notes (as an example) to make the app bypass/enable.
To learn how to do this open the MIDI Control menu in the AUM settings and see how every App that supports AUv3 parameters exposes it's configuration for all the basic AUM settings
like Bypass, volume, MUTE, record, etc.
If you want to sequence these bypass/enable events a Piano Roll MIDI sequencer would be a good choice but Mozaic is possible. You'd have to decide on a specific set of FX to Note assignments and create a table for a programmer to help you out.
You can also of course send notes using an On screen keyboard app of your choice. The Note assignments for each FX can be configured using MIDI Learn. I'd recommend you do some testing with the AUM keyboard pointed at "MIDI Ctrl" and assign the notes of a scale to each FX app you want to sequence and then record the correct "melodies" in an app like "MIDI Tape Recorder" or LK's "Matrix" IAP.
Hi…. I appreciate all of the comments. I should have stated - I didn’t want to go through every last plugin in all my channels and assign a MIDI PC to the enable/bypass (cycle) parameter in AUM.
The concept of using a “for loop” is that the loop would loop through the plugins in a channel, not knowing ahead of time what they are or how many there are. I don’t think this is possible.
@McD I forgot to add you to the maybe ——- will chime in, lol, my bad. That did actually cross my mind, basically using notes on a piano roll to toggle the fx on/off would work. It would be nice to have it all in 1 Mozaic “package” so to speak, but it’s not necessary. If anybody takes it up, I’ll surely download the script, lol. Cheers.
It‘s like @McD explained - Mozaic can‘t directly access other AUs or the AUv3 host.
It‘s easier to setup a piano-roll (sending to AUMs midi control) and sequence the switching during an arrangement. Or, if you want to use a hardware controller to directly use the midi of the controller to control the Bypass switching.
Experiment with the various control modes that AUM offers: toggle / normal / invert.
The normal/invert mode allow absolute control of the bypass state - but the midi input value (note or CC) needs to be hold. The outcome of the toggle mode depends on the current state - manually bypassing would disturb a previously setup toggle-control via piano-roll.
Definitely. Thanks @_ki and @McD
Hopefully @Vmusic got their answer.
Cheers.
Who cares... he asks interesting questions. I love a good question as much as a good answer.
Hi Everyone,
YES - Thank you!!! I did get my answer, and improved my understanding of AUM, and Mozaic at the same time.
Thanks again,
AJ
