Eventide updated his plugins, potentially breaking all your AUM projects [FIXED with last update]

So a new version for all the Eventide plugins came last week.

Until now, there were 2 visible Audio Units for each plugin, one of them with a MIDI signal.

Now, they have eliminated the MIDI audio units, creating only a generic AUv3 unit for each plugin.

I had the MIDI ones in all my AUM projects, so now they can't be loaded.

So I lost all my adjustments.

The Mixbox situation is repeating again.

    iOS.

  • Eventide may not have realized they broke something so let them know.

It sounds like it may be a simple build error that they can probably resolve quickly if people let them know.

  • can i use this as an excuse to finally remove them from my device?

Definitely this. I've screwed up and submitted the wrong build to the App Store myself*. I was lucky and caught it just before I hit the button to make it go live. Let them know, it could just be a simple mistake.

*It's possible to submit the plugin build instead of the app build and Xcode will submit the app anyway. In my case it caused a naming issue. In a more complex submission it could cause a problem with which embedded AU's were submitted.

  • They made the main plugin MIDI-capable and stopped including separate MIDI versions around the time Crystals came out (IIRC).

I don’t have time to hunt for it, but I think I read here that they decided not to change the previous versions because it would mess up people’s projects — not sure why they changed it now but as espiegel and NeonSilicon stated above, it should hopefully be an easy fix if you email them about it!

Because Magic Dice is so much easier to use.

But do you have one or two AUv3 visible for each plugin?

If you were using the normal AUV3 unit without the MIDI nomenclature in its name, you're fine.

  • This sort of thing gives me nightmares! Fortunately I never used the midi versions

    Same

  • Ok. Nope i dont use the midi version. Just the normal AUv3. Sorry about missing that part.

I havent used them in forever. It's been a while I've written music that needs to be draped in spandex or sequins, so they haven't gotten much use lately.

    Fair enough.

I have been using CrushStation a lot lately for glitchy octave fuzz.
