So true. The older I get the more I love classical music. Chopin always blows my mind. I definitely want to learn more about Arabic classics. Couldn’t even find this artist on Spotify. Wikipedia has an article but how to find his music?

I wanted to try and find the liner notes for the album. I found his website but no notes on the album. But, I did find this, https://www.shammamusic.com/listen

The third track from this same album, man, I don't see how you can even do that on an oud. It's beautiful too. There are links to the streaming services there too.

  • Anouar Brahem. I love his music and have many albums. He really opened my ears to the oud.

btw, is there a connection between those two pieces I'm not getting?

Also, I hope you check out Anouar. Too bad there's not a SWAM bass clarinet; is there? I really like the sound of those. He doesn't always play with the same group. There are some very good pieces with a piano trio and others.

  • @Stochastically, actually, it is the vast difference that made me connect them. That we live in a world with centuries of diverse, but no less beautiful, musical expressions, just leaves me awestruck.

There is a pretty good bass clarinet in iFretless Sax.

I hear you; and it's right there at a touch. Also I see that there is a SWAM bass clarinet. (of course how could there not be?).

  • @NeonSilicon, here’s some very interesting info…. Ali ebn Nafi = Ziryab!

  • Bass clarinet sounds so awesome. My friend actually plays one. It’s a pity it’s not used more in modern music.

Definitely interesting. Thanks! I'm going to have to go do some reading now.

I used to have one but foolishly sold it. Eric Dolphy was my inspiration.
