AUM file playback - mp3
Hi all -noob here trying to learn AUM for live playback.
Question: I want to press a button on my irig blueboard, and start playing an MP3 file I have loaded inside AUM. AUM midi options do not provide a start/stop option, just "play enable" ..
What's the best way to start/stop an mp3 inside AUM, using a midi foot pedal? Do I need to load a looper to handle? Thanks again for the assist... trying to learn this stuff and just getting started!

you need to start the aum timeline.
And you find it in MIDI Ctrl under the main AUM hamburger menu, not in MIDI settings for the module.
I switched away from AUM's File Players to 4Pockets "Neon Audio Editor" for just this reason.
You can trigger AUv3 instances of Neon to record in an FX slot or play in an instrument slot without AUM's Start being active.
You can also "sync" instances as desired to the AUM host and they will fire with AUM's transport controls.
I have never found a MIDI way to fire off AUM's start but I wager you'll figure out how to start Neon instances with the pedal using MID learn on AUM's MIDI Control page for the Neon instance in short order.
Every instance of Neon share a media folder so moving a recording from FX (record) instance to Intrument (Play) instance is fast... it also support drag and drop between instances and the IOS Files app.
It has dozens of other loop creation/playback features beyond the simple use case I'm using but I'll get there someday.
@4pockets_paul is going in for a surgery and he could use the extra income while he's recuperating and won't be cracking out updates and new apps like he's been doing for several years now.
I realize you're proposing Neon as an alternative solution, but I wanted to clarify how to trigger AUM's Start. Can't you just configure it in MIDI Control (shown below), then route the MIDI source to MIDI Control in the MIDI Routing (snake) menu?

You're probably right... it looks like a Transport Sub-menu that I didn't stumble upon.
I'm just too proud to ask for help.
But not too proud to give quick inaccurate answers.
