Atom 2 running hot over the last few months?
Has anyone else has any issues with atom 2 in terms of high cpu/DSP usage and spikes especially since the last few iOS updates?
If I have a couple instances and open one it usually spikes my cpu. It seems like it’s been happening a lot more in the last 3-4 months or so. I’ll have a relatively small session Going but if atom 2 is in it, especially more then 1 instance, I get regular spikes when editing or opening an instance in AUM. Even more spikes if transport is running. My CPU seems to jump significantly when I use more then 1 instance.
Also the loop markers have been Changing on me, but I might be doing something to cause that.
Any thoughts.

Not aware of this myself, but will certainly investigate further.
What iOS version (and iPad model) are you on now - and do you (by any chance) remember what version you first noticed this happening with?
I’m on an iPad 6 2018 model 128 Gb iOS 15.3.1
I don’t have hard evidence it’s atom 2, but it seems to be the common thread when things get high. That’s why I threw the question out there to see if anyone else has noticed anything. I know my device is getting Up there, but to me, it seems to be “heavier” then it was several months ago. I could be mistaken.
That never occurred to me. I always have Atom2 in sessions, and it’s true that opening up its piano roll can cause a spike. I just assumed it was a heavier plug-in.
Maybe it just needs to some love can care to fully take advantage of all the new optimized stuff added to webkit as if I'm not totally mistaken Atom 2's UI is technically more or less like a 'web page' with a highly optimized midi-engine running in the background.
I have to admit that I've not used Atom 2 a lot lately as I've been busy with other apps that for me easily replace it for the way I like to do things...
What apps have replaced Atom 2 for you?
I just want to add that those CPU spikes may be caused by GUIs displaying and updating themselves. The displayed CPU usage is really just an indication of the amount of spare time available; it cannot tell how the time is being used. And as already suggested, iOS updates may have affected GUI overhead.
Atom 2 is quite lightweight in terms of CPU. Some user interfaces of lightweight apps can cause a surge of demand that results in a spike because the app was using so little cpu that the is needs to allocate more resources.
That makes sense.
I use it a lot, maybe it’s my device or a misperception but it seems to be a little Heavier then before. Maybe I’m losing it, lol.
True.
It hasn't been updated recently, so if nothing else has changed about how you're using it, then that leaves only OS changes as a variable. I guess there could be something they changed affecting it, but I couldn't imagine what. I haven't noticed any change in Atom 2's behavior myself, but I'm not a heavy user.
Thanks for the input.
