ipad Air 3rd gen frequently not responding to touch
Hi, can anyone help? I have an ipad Air 3rd gen that is frequently not responding to touch. Touch on an icon, app, keyboard and it responses but only 75% of the time. ipad is used for live gigs so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have 250GB of which 178GB is used. Could it be a space issue?

Not likely a space issue. Try restarting the iPad. Was this happening prior to iPadOS 15.4?
I suspect you may have something running intensively in the background. See if the Battery shows a lot of background running (light blue bars). You can tap on one of them to see the apps that were running in that hour.
There is a known issue with that design, which is based on the 2017 iPad Pro: a white spot develops above the home button, and sometime later the device becomes less responsive to touch.
I have the 2017 iPad Pro, and this developed the white spot after about a year, and slowly but surely the touch response is becoming a little bit flakey, especially in the area near the home button.
Both the white spot and non responsiveness is present here (air 3, 13.7). Though it only goes unresponsive when charging.
I’ve read that it’s an earthing issue, mine sometimes does this when plugged in as well, and I’ve noticed with some metal earphones that I can feel a slight tingle… I’ve seen hacked cables where they attach a ground connection to the outside of the power cable to mitigate it, but haven’t yet tried it. For me it doesn’t happen at all when I’m using it unconnected…
Aha! To clarify, "earthing" means "grounding" in American lingo. Does it help to turn the charging module over, so the plug is reversed?
I don’t think so, that’s one of the clever things about lightning, and the newer USB stuff, they’re symmetrical so everything functions the whichever way round it’s inserted😁
I have the same issue- my iPad is often non responsive, especially when typing, and I have a white spot over the home button. My wife's Air 3, which she bought at the same time, is fine. I like my old Macbook Air but it's the only Apple product I've ever owned that actually works as intended. "It just works, except when it won't" is the Tim Cook Apple slogan.
Are you able to reverse the module at the wall plug, or is it polarized? The plugs on American Lightning power modules are not polarized, they have two equal-width pins. So we can turn the module over to change which pin is connected to the "neutral" side of the power line.
I’m pretty sure that changing what’s connected at the AC won’t really affect what happens with the DC, the rectification will always keep the positive part and flow it to the right place…

Yes, but we were talking about the grounding (earthing). If there's a little AC leakage (you mentioned the tingle in metal earphones) that would make a difference. That tingling feeling is not caused by DC. You have to forget all normal understanding of electricity when looking at ground loops, etc.; the whole system is just one big inductive/capacitive mess.

A couple of months ago I had have the same problem. The Apple Pencil worked fine, but no response on touch with fingers. Only when charging. Since two months or so, the problem disappeared. 😊
I think, it had to do something with battery status …
The good side was, that since then, I really LOVE to use the Apple Pencil.
