How much money did you spend on apps in 2021?

  • I’d guess circa £250 last year, probably more in 2020. This year has been derailed by buying bits of hardware, a couple of Eurorack modules and bits to enable my wife and me to play side by side or jam using an iPad each.

  • Maybe $20, if that.

  • Nothing in 2021 because my iPad was broken and I tried to make music with Windows
    But I failed because a lot of the things I wanted were so pricey on windows I just couldn’t afford it and also I just couldn’t get my head around the workflow I have the feeling a lot of iPad apps are structured much simpler
    So now I found a decent repair service that repaired my iPad better than it was before I feel way more free because alone this month I bought five apps and only spent like €30 which would have cost me at least 100on windows

  • 0 EUR

    But please for god sake don't ask how much we spend on HW :lol: trying to not think about that ...

  • I've somehow managed to keep my app-o-holism under control for the past years :sunglasses:

    2021 = $308USD (3032:- SEK including VAT).
    2022 = $64.50USD (633:- SEK including VAT) so far.

    2011-2020 is way more than 3 1TB 11" M1 iPadPros...

    I've set a limit for 2022 at $200 but that's not set in stone if something extra-ordinary drops.

  • The graph heads downward from 2021 on. The SWAMS cost the most. Now, I doubt I spend more than $10 a month average.

  • I don't want to check how much I've spent, but I now tend to buy apps "just" to help keep iOS music app going.
    We need to encourage devs to keep on coding for us !

    I just don't need any more apps for sure...

    Quick question how do you all check?
    Übecause when I go to my bought items list on AppStore I don’t see the prices anymore the big cost
    Of course I could go to PayPal and look there but I buy so many things over PayPal that it would be hard work to find The apps

    How about how much money did you spend on:
    Coffee?
    Beer?
    Streaming services?

    $584 would get me a StarBucks Venti Mocha every 3rd day. Somedays I drive through my local Starbucks twice just for comfort food. So, I bought an espresso machine.

    iPad apps save me thousands very year by not buying hardware. So, I'll buy a new iPad.

    Apps are the cost effective option. I haven't bought a new instrument in 3 years. Before my IOS addiction I would buy 1-2 a year. And I get to hang with a great group of people to discuss what to buy and how to make it work.

    It’s definitely cut down my hardware spending. I also haven’t bought any new hardware in almost 2 years. I still have my physical synths though, just can’t let go of them. And I am eyeballing an Analog 4.

  • I kinda got out of iOS production for a couple years, so last year was spent catching up on a lot of the apps I missed, so it’s probably a lot. At least $500 I’d say. This year will probably be half that.

  • About 400 it looks like. Mostly premium stuff like Fabfilters, Loopy, Lunar Lander, then a few effects here and there. The flurry of releases has def slowed down over the last 2 years. When first starting out in 2014 or so, I prob topped $1k, prob even $1500 per for those first couple years.

  • With the likelihood of a major recession increasing, I’m probably not going to be spending much over the rest of the year. Food and gas for the car is already a big concern now.

    Dunno how much in 2021, but i'm pretty sure tip jars are going to exceed purchases in 2022
    Some devs could turn their tip jars into subscriptions ....

    Agreed. I’ve got a lot of stuff I need to save for anyway so for now I’m only buying apps I feel like I can’t live without. I already have hundreds of them, so it’s not like I need anymore. My thoughts going forward are to just wait until an app I want goes on sale.

  • $72 plus tax.

    Only things I bought last year were Loopy Pro and Animoog Z. TBH, 2021 was kind of a meh year for me when it came to iOS apps.

    Yep, Loopy Pro was the only thing I bought. And I have barely cracked it open. I think for me IOS music making itself is becoming kind of meh, nothing really new and exciting that is activating my App Aquisition Syndrome.

    I adore NFL for this reason. I enjoy watching the games and seeing all the amazing events. I play this sport and I'm a huge lover of it. In contrast to when I was in high school, I currently have other responsibilities, therefore I don't have as much spare time to play it. At least I can watch the games, and to keep me motivated, I also enjoy placing bets or playing wildcardcity casino online.
