3d printing ios and desktop

i’m getting back into 3d printing after a few years away from it. I don’t know what is new or better on the software side. anybody have any advice on 3d cad modeling software? what are most people using? what are the fastest at designing parts?
just curious if any audiobus users also dabble in the 3d world

  • I use Blender and Open SCAD for 3d modeling, Ultimaker Cura (Free version) for slicing, and run my 3d printer with Octoprint running on a Raspberry Pi 4 with a Microsoft webcam attached. The printer is on the garage. I can run it and monitor it from my Mac or iOS devices, only needing to go to the garage occasionally to change filament, etc.

Works very well. Octoprint is really, really helpful.

I’ve started 3D printing as well

Can you guess what this is going to be?

I haven't seen any difficulty with keeping temperatures in line. My printer seems to do a good enough job. However, the climate is very mild where I live. I did build an enclosure from an IKEA Lack table, but that was more to keep dust out than anything else. It has probably helped with temperature control, but I can't say I've seen any noticeable print quality improvement.

Yes. Full size R2. I’m using Cura slicer and an Ender 3 pro. I’m using Michael Baddeley
design. There is a patron page for the files and a Facebook group.

that’s the printer i’m thinking of getting. So how did you chop R2 into smaller pieces? did you do that in cura? if so, how. i’m still trying to figure that out myself

  • Haven’t used this one but QClone 3D scanner is currently $10 off at $9.99. Could be useful for this topic.

Happy to help. They have a 3d printer at my library and I always wanted to use it. It’s free after 45 min of free instruction on how to use, and an approximate max 2hr print time. Which isn’t much I know.

That developer has 2 other apps that might be useful as well.
