I'm a Kai Aras apps fan. Especially Volt and Shockwave, for me that are classics. So Popsicle is a no-brainer.

Question, does Volt work in stand alone for you? I get no sound at all in stand alone, I’m on a 2020 IPad Pro running OS 15.3, it hasn’t worked in stand alone for me since OS 13 🤷🏽‍♂️

Same as what @gusgranite said, works without any problem stand-alone(iPad 10.5 2017, IOS 15.3)

    • One should be able to record pad motion while listening to a pre-recorded track or while playing on a track. This is what I thought I could do when I bought this.

Would you mind explaining what you mean in more detail, please? (I don’t own it yet)

Sure. I was under the impression I could use the X-Y pad during or after an audio recording in order to shape the sound, so it would then play back the X-Y pad performance later (synched to the track), during playback. But it appears this is not the case.

Do you mean the automation is limited to a certain number of seconds?

The automation does not appear to sync with playback. I'd love to be proven wrong on this.

When I write a 1 bar rhythmic sweep in Cubasis 2 it plays back in sync- looped.

Edit: Just tried in GARAGE band, I forgot it was installed. I wrote a 4 bar rhythmic sweep and it loops back fine to the tempo.

  • Bought it this morning. Awesome effects app to have in Loopy Pro!

All KINDS of parameters exposed btw, lots of fun stuff to play with!

Can you ‘record’ longer than 4 bars? Also, can you record whatever pattern you want while your music is playing?

I don’t know. It seemed to want to be a 4 bar loop in GB. I don’t even really know how to expand the plug-in GUIs in GB and don’t really care to learn- only really have it installed for Alchemy. In Cubasis I did a 1 bar loop and it looped that but GB wanted a 4 bar loop or else it was 3 bars of blank after the 1 bar of movement. Need to sit with Popsicle more to find out how to change the loop length or whatever and see how it works.

By the way Write and Read are perfectly fine and correct terms to address automation.

Pretty amazing but has anyone been able to get the 2 finger swipe between the controls and x-y pad that Jakob demonstrated to work?

I answered you over YouTube. I’ll post the resolution here if/when we get to one. 👍

    Thanks @jakoB_haQ ...I've emailed Kai as well...👍

Latest beta hot off the press from Kai fixes the problem - that's what I call efficient...😉> @NeuM said:

So far, it crashes constantly in iOS GarageBand. Seems like it should’ve been beta tested using GarageBand as the host DAW?

    Suggestions:

    • The “R” and “W” are needlessly confusing on the motion recording portion of the pad. Just replace these with standard Stop (⏹), Record (⏺) and Play (▶️) icons and add a (❌) or trash icon to indicate clearing/erasing the motion recording.

    • One should be able to record pad motion while listening to a pre-recorded track or while playing on a track. This is what I thought I could do when I bought this.

    How’s AUM? Ok I guess?

Working awesome on mini 5 and 10.5 pro using either AUM or apeMatrix

Try GarageBand, which is the default DAW for millions of musicians (because it’s free and built in to iOS).

Not a huge fan tbh - uninstalled on ipad and ignored on Mac

That seems to be the prevailing opinion on this site, but rest assured, many musicians use GarageBand due to it’s straightforward operation.

I just can't get my head around GB - it seems unintuitive and over complex but i understand that others may feel different.

  • Works well in AUM but has lots of static and noise in Drambo
iPad Air 3 with iOS 13.7

  • Looking forward to trying this

In a nutshell, how does it compare to other multi FX apps?

What icons would you use to indicate "Write" and "Read"?

I don't have the app yet but that sounds like a sample rate or maybe buffer size issue between NS2 and the AU.

IMHO it’s more intuitive with a better GUI (that could also be because I have most of his apps and am already familiar) - and I think all the routing possibilities makes it potentially more complex if you want to go deeper.

Yeah, stuff used to sound like that all the time back when I used to use Cubasis and you'd have to mess around with the settings for hours trying to work out what CB wanted you to do. Never had to do that with NS2, and never had a plugin sound like this.

I haven't heard from kai yet so I went ahead and bought it. A lot of fun. Silent Walkthrough is being uploaded to yt now

I trust it’s working better in AUM, but here’s an average screen I get with this app in GarageBand. In other words, blank. And it crashes about every 3-4 minutes.

  • Finally bought it, great plugin!
    Automation is fun!

I can’t find any way to change the sample rate in this, or any other way to make it not sound like a robot shitting in a bucket. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m teetering on the edge of getting my first ever App Store refund because this is useless to me as is.

Out of curiosity, what buffer-size are you using?!
That might be one thing to look at...

  • @Samu tried them all. It’s mostly on “medium” but this things sounds awful whatever I set it to.

    That's a bummer...
Have you've tried it with any other hosts?

If you like the app and want it fixed it might be worth to get in touch with the developer.
I don't have 'Popsicle' and have no intentions what so ever of getting it either...

    Cheers!

  • I don’t really use any other hosts sadly, so if it doesn’t work in this one it’s no use. I seem to remember Shockwave having similar issues at launch so maybe I’ll hold out for a fix.

  • I don’t have NS2 but I finally tried it in Apematrix last night and it had no issues. My Apematrix is set at 44.1k FWIW

Then we'll just tag @ka010 and/or @jakoB_haQ and see if they have a solution for getting Popsicle to work with NS2...
