Real musicians don’t use iPads…

Comments

  • They absolutely do. :)

  • The headline got me excited cause I thought this was going the other way, as in real musicians only use iPhones.😂

  • Real musicians only exist in a very complex Venn Diagram called "Music Makers" and the circles are defined by the audience. Landing a large circle doesn't seem to validate any particular reality.

Maybe he is looking up what the red cables are for? While playing an advanced version of Guitar Hero.

  • I wonder what happens to IOS-music if apple introduces the portless iphone/ipad.

  • Real musicians make music 🙃

  • Real musicians don't argue about the tools they use

    NO TRUE SCOTSMAN

Have you ever heard the argument "no true Scotsman"? It's a common statement used in debating or concluding a particular point that attempts to compare the actions, words, or beliefs of one person to all Scotsmen. This is a common logical fallacy that is inherently false due to its generalization and vagueness.

    Nailed it

  • Real iPads don't need musicians.

  • Hilarious, hearing that sort of belief for real, and I have (online).

Because, obviously, real musicians do use iPads. I know some that do. And hey, might as well call myself a real musician. Why not.

iPads create virtual music so I'm a surreal musician. I can live with that.

So what’s his app list, apart from mixer control? I hear? “We are doing wired things on the iPad” lol

    • AUM
    • Sampletron
    • Egoist
    • Scatterbrain?
    • Bheringer mixer app

    … but, do they though?

  • I agree with Gaz, the most interesting aspect of this set up is the merging of all the different technologies and formats into a cohesive instrument.

  • Real musicians are too busy making music to spend time telling other musicians they’re using the wrong tool.

This is a very eloquent way of saying it! My version would be a little more dickish. Something like:

Musicians who gatekeep what other musicians do - and don't - use, in my experience are rarely musicians. They're fans with bad opinions who can play instruments.

  • Define “real musician?”

  • I’m a fake one so…

But also really cool to see big names using iOS. Using the right tool for the job is never a bad thing.

  • ffs this is the first I hear that Tangerine Dream played here? I really need to pay more attention to gig listings lmao

  • Egoist & Scatterbrain. So cool to see them using these apps that I am obsessed with...

First time I used Scatterbrain I immediately thought of TD & the Quadraphonic ratchety stuff they did in the 70's.

  • Real musicians only use space gray iPads 😛

  • Real musicians play at weddings or church.

  • Aren’t we all real musicians?

  • Real musicians improvise with other instruments if app/session crash on live performance

  • Holograms

  • Many years ago (when concerts were a thing) I watched Jean Michel Jarre live onstage playing Animoog on his iPad… I would say he was a real musician!

    I’m an imaginary musician.
