Cubasis 3 poor quality audio after importing a wav?

Hi everyone, love this community so much.

I’m new to cubasis 3 and running into a small problem when trying to import a wav file into a track.

it’s probably an obvious fix but i’m trying to import a wav file into cubasis 3 and the playback HORRIBLE. very digitally compressed sounding and just bad. i’ve tried saying NO and YES to the conversion that it prompts and that doesn’t seem to fix it so i assume it is something else i’m missing :/

thanks ahead of time for any help and dealing with my noobness. hope everyone is doing well.

  • What sample rates do the files you are importing have?
What sample rate is the session running at?

I suspect your session is running at 48k and the samples/files you're trying to import are 44.1k...

Cubasis has this nasty habit of re-sampling (with a pretty bad algorithm?!) files when the sample-rate doesn't match causing the degradation...

On newer devices the hardware sample-rate is locked to 48k and the only way to change is is to use an external audio-interface.

    How are you monitoring?
If it's blue-tooth speakers / headphones they have their own share of 'issues'...

    Cheers!

ahh yeah i’m using bluetooth headphones. i can grab my audio interface from my studio later though! that sounds about right. also yeah i’m importing 44.1k files.. thanks for the quick response

If you're using any Apple AirPods make sure to enable Airplay in the Cubasis settings (Settings > Audio) as this will increase the audio quality but latency will still suck, that's the nature of Bluetooth...

yeah turns out i just wasn’t switching it over to bluetooth headphones. thanks for all the help. no tutorials mentioned this lol. a simple thing but important.

    on a side note

settings seem to be set at 44.1k and converting all my files to 44.1k in the prompt when i import. gives me a message saying my hardware doesn’t support or another app is blocking when i try to switch to 48k. i’m assuming i’ll be able to run 48k when i use my interface?
