Yeah, I gave this a go in both mirack and drambo when I first saw that video, you definitely can, though I can’t find any of my presets just now…
You could use for example auGENX to create the transient clicks and feed it thru a self-resonant filter like BLEASS Filter.
I'd love to check out anything you came up with, mate! (Hope you're well, btw!)
How have I never seen auGEN X before now?
SOLD!
Great mate thanks! I did just find an aum file or two, but they’re characteristically messy so I’ll try and make sense of them and send them over… funnily enough I was rewiring your old octex thing into my octatrack this afternoon, using its lfos to drive multiple CV outs 😁
Magic! Man, I'd love to hear what you're getting up to with it - have you put anything up on your Vimeo?
Not lately, I’m mostly messing about between real work; long vr project that’s been eating my brain. I got my valve workshop ready to rock though, just need to find time and energy to get into the actual research and development down there …
Actually I put this up the other day…

And this is a clip from the workshop

Don’t stop at filters, try pinging waveguides/phasers/comb filters/any super short delay with feedback 🧙♂️
Just pointing it out because it can be easy to miss: Drambo has an Impulse module that can be useful for generating the clicks
@Krupa Ah, that's glorious stuff! The sound those valves conjure up are absolutely superb!
@ronnieb I'd never thought of doing any of those things!
@Grandbear I'm just thinking - in theory, I could just sample the clicks and then run through a random sequencer (the Turing Machine on Mozaic, for example) couldn't I? Lots of fun ahead!
@PeteSasqwax yep, absolutely. One thing that the module has that could be interesting as opposed to a recorded click is the parameter modulation/p-locking though
One day I'll actually get stuck into Drambo... I've got a Faderfox UC4 which seems like it would be the perfect partner for it too
Drambo impulse + analogue modeled filter modules work like a charm for pinging. The Drambo filters are nice!
https://patchstorage.com/ping-multi-resonator-midi-playable-effect/ I made this after watching the same video.
Burns Audio Spectrum Suite (Mutable Instruments code) is great for this.

Ben, this is fantastic! I should have checked your channel first. I don't know a great deal about Drambo but the majority of what I do know came from your videos.
@ohwell I need to set some time aside today to explore!
@ocelot Burns Audio stuff is amazing! Such an incredible resource to have on iOS and his Turing Machine script for Mozaic pairs beautifully with Spectrum Suite too.
Thank you so much. I alsways wanted to understand and then experiment with filter pinging. Now I have all the resources at hand. Just one more question: is there anything like Spectrum for desktop? I recently fell in love with Bitwig as my sound design playground and I would so much like to have desktip plugins like the Burns Audio AUs.
If you have a Mac, miRack with the Audible Instruments Plugins. It’s all there…

Yeah, I think VCV Rack has Mutable Instruments ports in there too if you're on PC. There might be other things that do it on a VST basis or within Reaktor etc. Not very helpful for BW but I think there are Mutable devices for Max For Live. I really ought to look into it but I've become very iOS-centric these days and my DAW is being largely neglected completely.
@wim thank you! Finally a reason to check out miRack.
See ya in a few weeks when you come up for air.
auGEN X into FabFilter Volcano3
@PeteSasqwax The thread of the year! Thanks for the hainbach vid. It’s my fave of his so far.
All this weird stuff is making me keen to use those best-of apps some more. Great ideas Drambo (of course) vcv rack and volcano here I come
Volcano is an excellent shout! Any excuse to put the FF apps centre stage is definitely highly approved. Yeah, I love Hainbach's stuff but especially when it's something relatively device-agnostic so that I can put into practice myself (without going on an expensive quest for long forgotten gear or lab equipment)
I like playing with extreme resonance with filtatron, but if there's a auv3 filter that is better, would love to know it!
AudioDamage FIlter Station 2, FF Volcano, Drambo Analog Filters, TB Dual VCF come to mind...
Also the iVCS3 package has a nice filter module that can be used as an AUv3.
You could also use the Moog Model 15 as an AUv3 Effect?
wooo thanks!!!!! checking out the filterstation 2
Filtatron was the first app I ever downloaded and it's still one of my favourites! A Moog ladder filter (and more) on my crusty old iPhone?! So much win!
Hahahaha too right!!!!!
Even my iPhone 4 runs it! Add a cheapo iRig version 1 and it's the perfect filterbox for next to nothing!
