Humm ... that last comment has me wondering if they're heading toward a newer/better IR capture technology, and if that means it'll feel like the stuff one buys now is outdated.

Of course, they could be going a completely different direction from IR's altogether. However, that just doesn't smell right. I can't see that they would have any need to remove any of the old products no matter what "new direction" they take.

The cynic in me is whispering that this is deceptive marketing double-talk geared toward getting people panic buy buy now, then re-buy the newer products down the road.

Still 30% off is worth looking at.

  • Yeah, it could be, wim. As I recall, there was a subset of “older” IRs on their site in the past, so they could totally blow us away after the sale ends. However, 30% doesn’t seem like a large enough discount to properly “clear old stock.”

Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

As it is now, I have at least a dozen or so of their IRs I’ve yet to test, so there’s that.

That's where I smell a rat. There's no such thing as old stock for a download. Also no logical reason why they would discontinue selling them. The more I think about about it the more convinced I am it's just marketing bullshit.

No need. I'm always right. :p

  • Maybe they are going the route of switching to encrypted IR files that work in a free IR player app?

  • I doubt there’s anything fishy going on. They’ve always been straight up IME.
