Is this a re-branding as the artist “LEVY”?
@McD…. Not rebranding…. Just shortening. Thought of reverting to my family’s original name Zaharovich…but these days Russian patronymics probably send the wrong signal.
I think that has a nice cadence to it.
Any relation to Marc Chagall?
@Paulieworld most Levy’s, Levine’s, Levitz’ etc are not original names. Mostly, somewhere back in time, they were changed from the original (unspellable and unpronounceable in the US) Eastern European names.
All those people changed their names to the tribal name “Levi”… from the original twelve tribes. The Levites, in Temple times we’re the administrators, caretakers and musicians in Solomon’s and Herod’s Temples. So, at Ellis Island Zaharovich became Levy and here I am making music without a Temple.
Poignant and lovely. Minimal strings are a really nice touch.
