@Paulieworld, I tried to take my own advice on the drums here 🧐😉😎

Comments

  • Tasty! I would have brought the drums forward just a skosh, or maybe half a tad. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

I will be posting something tonight about the state of the world, as we know it. It's not a happy song.

  • Love the layering of the stringy synth patches and piano. Cool stuff!

  • Thanks @Paulieworld, I guess I have become a bit hesitant about drums, perceiving them as the weakest part of what I do. The xy pads help in some of the Lumbeats apps, but aside from that it’s kind of hit and miss. Glad you liked it tho. This track was unusual as it is based on a single note line.
It shows the power of the tools we have.

Thank you for listening @HotStrange. Much appreciated!

  • I’m liking your latest synthy stuff. I like the tempo/beat variations a lot. Hey - how did Bach get in there? I was recently reading some of the 1001 Nights in the famous Burton translation. The whole Scheherazade story is kind of shocking really.

  • @Stochastically, actually, the Bach like improv “I’ll Be Bach” was translated to viola from the midi lead line in this track. Digital magic!

I’m sure Burton shocked the Scheherazade narrative up even more to suit his predilections.

  • Your mixing of the drummer here is excellent... dropping him back when the live playing needs to play with the tempo and slipping him back into the stream when it helps.

I love the marimba-like synth that slips in at 3:06.

There's a gets added with an excellent ability to listen and react.

I told the Scheherazade story in an elementary school art series my wife created. The 1st grade teacher asked if her class could have the experience and we didn't think about what that would mean for their dreams later that night. Oops. Needless to say, it didn't help the program when parents started calling the principal to ask what the hell was going on at school. I remember I used a hand gesture to emphasize that the King threatened to "CHOP"
(hand slams on a flat palm for effect... they jumped). We didn't go into the details about the fact that the King was going through a Virgin a day until she showed up with 1001 Stories.

CHOP! You can't undo something like that.

  • Always satisfying to get a 👍from you on the drum @McD …my Achilles heel.

    What’s this about…
“There's a gets added with an excellent ability to listen and react.”? Sounds like a SoundCloud bot hacked your post.
