Purchase ipad apps from iphone

edited June 2014 in General App Discussion

I keep seeing great sales and freebies for ipad but I will be away from my ipad and computer for a while. Purchase only, not jail broken. Does anyone know if I can do this?

  • Maybe use a remote desktop app on your iPhone to connect to a computer running iTunes to make your purchase?

  • Think RD is about the only way. It's so silly that you can't do it normally!

  • Thanks guys, that's a really good idea

  • I'm buying apps for iPhone from my iPad and no problem at all, despite I haven't got any iPhone, but...who knows in the future?

  • @fjcblanco - Right, you can do it the other way (purchasing an "iPhone" app on iPad) because all iPhone apps can be used on iPad. It's strange to me that there's no way to buy an iPad app unless you either have a computer or your 9" screen device with you. The only reason I can think is that Apple doesn't want to deal with people buying paid apps on iPhone that won't work on that device and getting pissed off. You'd think they could just solve that with another pop-up warning though.

I'll go one step further - I wish I could at least wish list iPad apps from my phone, or view their description in the App Store. If I see iPad apps on this forum I want to check out later, I've even sent myself emails to remind me to view them on an iPad later!

  • This is off topic of the original question, but it's a follow-up to storm's comment. Any time I see an app I want to remember, or anything else I want to remember, I just take a screenshot. When I want to recall the info the screenshot is there in my photos.

  • all of what @StormJH1 said.

Yes, that is another thing I have done. I also do that if a song comes on Pandora or something and I want to look into it more later. Good tip!
