Kawai K5000 patches for AddStation
Inspired by @Pxlhg and @Spidericemidas explorations of AddStation, I thought it would be a fun exercise to recreate some of the sounds in my mid 90’s advanced additive synthesiser, a Kawai K5000W.
Despite the synthesisers employing similar architecture, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the K5000’s patches translated to AddStation.
Here’s a demo of some of the sounds and a comparison of the two synthesisers. Song credits belong to Kawai.

Dope. Thank you very much. There’s 3 things that always get me super pumped on the forum 1. Obviously a great app sale or freebie, lol. 2. A new free Au 3. Someone shares a free preset bank of a synth I own. Cheers!
Truly really great sounds. That pitch bend slide on the patches sounds so cool. Every patch is good. Congrats and well done.
Very cool, indeed. Will download these tonight!
Downloaded in an instant! These are beautiful. I look forward to using them on the next track. What exactly are they? Sounds from the Kawai recreated in AddStation using AddStation’s UI?
This is a great set of presets for AddStation. I had an impression of AddStation as overly digital and not my thing but these sounds are right in my lane: guitar, vibes, e-pianos, organ, and some beautifully exotic pads. Great designs.
I never realized that turning off "quantize" on the addstation internal keyboard (just above the keys in the right) would make slides right or left from a note would do a pitch bend. I'm not sure any other keyboard design does this... @Virsyn Harry Gohs is a master synth designer and one of the few devs that have sold me everything he's made. But a great synth means infinite possibilities and it takes a @Spidericemidas, @Pxlhg and now @onkey to open new doors for these apps.
Thanks for putting in the time and sharing your work.
Thanks @Poppadocrock I highly value your contribution to the forum so I’m pleased to give a little back.
I’d be honoured @LinearLineman. As you know I’m a huge fan of you and your work:) The sounds are mostly K5000 factory presets. I simply copied the harmonic spectra / filter settings and used my ears to dial in the envelopes. AddStation appears first in the demo song. I think it holds it own against the K5000.
Thanks @McD the goal was to recreate a bank of ‘bread and butter’ sounds with decent playability and the flavour of additive synthesis. You’ll notice a strong Eastern theme which suits the demo track. I enjoyed the process so much that I’ll likely create other themes in the future:)
I actually thought the first part was the original!
These are excellent, @onkey! Please consider setting up some kind of donation link for yourself. Fantastic work. Many of these are the sort of sounds AddStation has been missing to make it a fully rounded synth. A synth needs a solid foundation of playable instruments in addition to the wild stuff.
Would love to hear more of your pad sounds. And the organ patches and guitar patches are really solid also.
Oooh yes! I like these! AddStation is powerful and its sound is so rich and glassy, very nice to have a bank like this for it showing more of what it can do, thank you for this great gift! My favourites so far are SynDream and Creaturz, I definitely want more like those, but they’re all nicely playable and musical. @LinearLineman will surely put these to excellent use! Good timing, since Mike is currently working on projects that include AddStation. 👏👏
This is one of the best preset packs I've ever heard.
Thank you. Cheers.
Yea me neither. I thought that was a great touch to the patches.
@onkey
You know you have a good bank when you get praise from the people above (other then myself) who commented on your bank.
I hope this helps encourage more purchases of AddStation. This thread and the presets from
@Spidericemidas (lots of bell-like sounds inspired by the Xmas Season):

Good on ya. @McD
Quick question, just wanted to confirm something. There are 3 @Pxlhg banks correct? when I rewatched the installation video from that other thread, I noticed he had 5 banks. I’m assuming the extra 2 were his personal banks and weren’t shared. There is 3 from him correct? Just wanted to make sure I’m not missing 2 free banks, lol.
I only have 2 @pxlhg folders in my AddStation. This will require someone to weigh in with
more info.
I will comment that each of these sound designers created presets/patches that are truly unique to their aesthetic. I suspect more designers would find additional unique qualities
in this synth. I just looked up the price and on 4/17 it returned to $20 after being on sale for $9. @Virsyn has periodic sales events.
I have three:
Yep! That’s exactly how my User library looks in Addstation.
There’s quite a lot of variety and ideas in sound designs between those banks, but I bet there’s a tonne more still waiting to be unlocked. Addstation is incredibly powerful and versatile. Hope there’ll be more banks offered up for it in future.
Well, @Spidericemidas, Pxlhg has already thrown down the gauntlet with libraries II & III — we’re now anxiously awaiting your next two 🤗 😉
Like many here, I’ll purchase any synth once you have created a bank of patches. Immense respect.
That’s high praise for AddStation! The K5000 is widely considered as one of the nicest sounding digitals ever made:)
New track in 15 minutes. 3x Onkey!
I only had the first two, but I just downloaded the file that's currently being linked to, and now I have three. The third one has subfolders.
Great points @NeuM. It’s a true chameleon synth with impressive modulation capabilities. And some more pads are definitely in order:)
Thanks @Spidericemidas. SynDream is an AudioKit D1 inspired patch with a similar name. Creaturz is a signature K5000 patch which turned out surprisingly well. BluGtr III is inspired by your Sunrizer Blue Guitar patch. I originally programmed it in the K5000 and it took on its own thing. I then recreated it in AddStation, hence the III suffix:)
@Skyblazer
@Poppadocrock The credit belongs to the Kawai sound designers. I'm merely the plagiarist;). But when the great @Spidericemidas chimes in...
@SNystrom I'm hoping others will join the party too! There are some great designers here.
The first two are included in the app when installed but not the third. I can't remember why I didn't ask Harry to include it, maybe I was fishing :P
Thank you @onkey for the preset pack, sounds real good.
Thanks @onkey for the great presets. These are truly rich and musical and I’ll throw in another vote for more pads. The ones you included are just lovely.
Definitely more of those glassy smooth pads, please! 🤞😃
Thank you for this awesome bank of presets!! Can tell you put a lot of care into this.
Can anyone see how this magic is being generated?
@JakoB_haQ, @Gavinski and SoundForMore have made tutorials on this synth. It's complicated.
Thank you @onkey ! Appreciate the effort 👊
Cheers @Pxlhg your three banks are ridonkulously good!
Glad you're enjoying them @lukesleepwalker, @bpert, @gusgranite
