MIDI file read - Digistix 2

Hello.

Is there a way to load midi drum patterns into the sequencer in Digistix 2? If so, how?

I’ve tried sharing the midi file to Digistix and moving it to the Digistix song folder but, alas, no luck.

Thanks in advance for any help I may receive.

Don’t look like you can… That would be so nice for transferring these Lumbeat Drum patterns via Mid (escaping IAA).
Would be nice for Hammerhead also.. @brambos

I guess we must do the extra steps of importing midi into Helium, etc.. 😡

Yea as @RajahP mentioned your best bet is importing to Atom 1 or 2, Helium, LK, Photon, or even Xequence 2, only one not Au. Then trigging the notes in the drum app.

Wishing for Midi import in September 2022... Seems like there are no Drum apps that lets you 'import' MiDi?

  • Reviving an old thread.
Late to the game as Im just starting out using iOS for music.
Been on Cubase M1 Mac recently but Loopy got me inspirited to drop a bunch of cash on an iPad and AUv3 apps.
Just got Digistix 2, very impressed even though it's old already by technology standards. Given what it could do when it came out is very impressive.
Still not possible to import midi files to use on the grid?
I have EZ drummer 3 and would super cool to bring in so many great grooves.

Since you have Loopy Pro ...

When midi looping is released in Loopy Pro this will be somewhat easier. You can set one or any number of midi loops to send to Digistix 2, then you can drag and drop as many midi files as you have visible loops for on a page right into the project from the files app in split screen or pop-over mode. You can then easily audition them.

I think after that you should be able to choose to record the ones you to the grid in Digistix. I haven't tried to see that you can record incoming midi to the grid in Digistix, but it sounds from the posts above like maybe you can.

I have a template with nothing but a big page of midi loops all in a play group that is set to play only one at a time. All I have to do is select a bunch of midi files in the files app and drag them to the first loop. They all fill up with the clips. Then I just tap on the ones I want to hear.

You can do that with audio clips now.

@slinky: Another approach would be to use Helium’s Clips feature in the Media Bay. You can add hierarchical folders with your MIDI clips to the ones bundled with the app.

Touching a MIDI clip in the Clips view will preview it, making it handy to quickly audition clips before deciding which one to drag to Helium’s timeline.

    Weird, mine doesn't preview.

I use helium also, I have A trilllion midi drum kits uploaded and shared that I toss into helium. Being able to preview them would really help me out.

Also, what midi export from Piano Motifs works best with Helium? I have 30 midi variants of every arrangement- and I don't think I've ever picked the proper one.

    Does that make sense?

Drambo allows for importing single-track MIDI files to the clip matrix (drag and drop), and during playback you can choose which ones to play.
