Verdens Beste / a Koala affair

I've had this thing half-baked on my phone for an entire year, so I thought I should maybe just complete it.

It's really based on an accidentally recorded sentence which I loaded into a project that already had the Amen break on the pads, so I went "check out this app!" and then forgot about it.

So over Easter I completed it on the koalaphone and transfered it to the ipad to finish it with Auria:

Drums are the Amen break obviously, chopped up etc. Bass is created from a short section of the voice inside Koala. Organ-like thing is a Thomann ~25$ Chalumeau sample processed with Eventide Rotary and TB Reverb. Cow bells and sheep vocals are from encounters last summer. All in Koala.

Other effects are Chow Centaur, TB reverb and barricade, and FF Q3.

I could have made it longer, but I think frenetic and short worked ok.

  • Lol. One of my ex gfs was from Verden. She also liked to get to the point.

  • Very unique, indeed. I would leave a few seconds of silence at the end and repeat raising the whole shebang an interval (not sure what… 1/2 step, 3rd, 4th, 5th?… not sure which). Would love to hear that increased energy.

  • That was fun. Doppelt so lang wär auch ok gewesen, judas.

  • Thanks all for listening!

    Another chord? But that's jazz!

    3:16 minutes ? But that's ambient!

..... yes I have all kinds of excuses, but the real reason for the brevity is lazyness, if I had to be honest.

I was originally planning on adding a piano break after the second vocal line; cutting the drums out, mangling the vox a bit more and so forth; but then I would have to vary the bassline a bit more; synch up a midi track with the koala parts and then I thought how valuable all your time is and how I couldn't possibly presume to [excuses fade to silence]

  • I really dig this
    So amusing, weird, and groovy
All at the same time

Imagine it going really well with playstation 1 era games. Something like Tekken 3 maybe

Probably would make a cool project to sample the grunts, hits and stuff from those!

  • When I got to work this morning I was not looking forward to my day. I found this and it immediately brought a smile to my face! That was very cool and entertaining. I'm thinking of playing it over the P.A. just to see what happens!

  • It takes close to 9 months to birth a baby, so, you're on schedule here.

At this temp 1:38 worked for me. The 3 minute song format was OK for radio that needed
to sell ads but sometimes less is more... more or less.
