Is anyone else getting this on a smaller iPhone (using iOS 15.4.1)?

I've tried to find an e-mail address or upload form on the dev's site without success.

I think with Testflight builds you can just take a screenshot and use the share option to send it to the respective developer.

That function is just too unreliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
But I've posted the beta form now.

Keyboard step/note-entry is a flying start. Polyphonic, even better. Then it all just seems to keep getting better from there.

    Terrific!

Is there a global randomise function?

Not global - it's based on manual recording of up to 64 steps into the sequencer, then you can make it do its magic...👍

Thanks! So, would I be right in thinking much of the rest of the stuff can be randomised?

Well, you can definitely create evolving, random patterns by using the wormholes and setting probability (take a look at the video linked further back in the thread) or by using random directions for the steps in the sequencer. There are a couple of other random options in the pattern selection but there isn't a big 'randomise' button to mix everything up.

Thanks! I did watch the video before asking, so i know there are random options buried in menus. But global randomisation can be useful as well as just being a lot of fun.

Have you considered this, and ruled out for some reason? Not a deal-breaker, either way. Just curious :)

He comes across as a nice guy, too. 👍 Looking forward to this.

    Totally agree with this.

I'm not the developer - contact ryan[at]audiosymmetric.com if you'd like to make suggestions - he's very open to them...

  • Yea definitely send any beta feedback through TestFlight or directly to Ryan.

There is a manual inside the app, I copied and pasted it into notability to read it easier.

Haha, Gotcha :) Well, I guess it's too late in the day for a big request. But I might email him after the release panic has settled-down.

not gonna sign up for the Beta, due to time-restraints. But I very well might get the app. He might be more receptive to feedback, once the initial release is over with.

  • I’m enjoying the time I’ve been able to spend with this. I am wondering if there’s a way to switch sequences planned, or even implemented. I’ve been through the manual but can’t find anything…

  • Thanks everyone for checking this out! I'm super excited to get OODA out to people ... Today I'll be responding to feedback and fixing some of the bugs that people reported over the weekend and then submit to Apple! I have a more complete set of tutorial videos that will drop along with the official release.

    Awesome thanks for the update.

  • @rygrob loving the beta. Looking forward to the release

  • It’s out now, which may be in another thread. I thought the beta was interesting enough that the release was an instabuy for me.

  • Out in uk App Store!
    Thanks Ryan @rygrob
    For all your hard work…
Loved the beta, just snagged the app!
    :)

Just watched most of the videos posted by the developer. This thing is deep. It’s like it’s own little midi ecosystem. Congrats @rygrob

  • Instantly bought it. Very interesting plug-in but really lacking on parameter automation.

It shares most of the controls as AUv3 parameters. So you can automate them externally, or even from the outputs. Doesn't that help?

Oh, thank you for the reply. Maybe I’ve done something wrong. I’m using Cubasis 3 as the host app and have tried recording automations earlier, today but could not get much out it. Which of the controls are exposed?

If you use and like midi fx, (which I’m guessing is 99% of this forum does, lol) I highly recommend it.

  • Quick Question - if I used the beta to make a couple tracks I really like in AUM, I’m thinking it would be a good idea to record the midi before I buy the App Store version? Can anyone chime in on this… it’s not always as big of a concern but since Ooda is basically creating the majority of the track, I’m thinking it’s probably a good idea to capture the midi before the App Store version replaces the beta…? Thanks

Could you try looking at it in Audiobus or AUM? I see essentially all the Voice parameters, and many for the grid. Here's the AUM menu. Each entry has 6 or 7 items.

Thanks, I don’t use AUM actually 😞 . I did launch it however, and that menu you show is indeed there. But is it possible to record the automations with it? I can tell you that I definitely CAN NOT record them with Cubasis3 as host. And I can’t record individual voices on/off automation though I was not able to do so with ZOA as well.

Anybody else having problem with the param automation recording?

  • I couldn't wait, but wish it wasn't on sale simply for the fact that this brilliance deserves recognition. So, I grabbed ZOA too! Thanks for making such a neat app. I mean this as a compliment, but these are right up there with Riffer, Chordjam, Playbeat 3 and Rosetta in my eyes, and those are some of the most used apps on my iPad!

  • I love these types of apps cause they are not only useful for creating music but fun and experimental too.

I just recorded the midi on the couple sessions I had to preserve before purchase, just to be safe.

I still must be misunderstanding something as I can't get the wormhole thing to work. I made a video. @rygrob what am I doing wrong??? This was starting from the default preset.

Unfortunately I was aiming my phone at the iPad badly while I was pressing the 2 appropriate buttons simultaneously with one hand, but you can see the buttons highlight soon after so it should be clear enough.

I removed the beta before buying it and my previous beta projects worked, no issues!

  • I'm looking forward to exploring ZOA and OODA. They're the most musical "generative sequencers". And the presets are great; I'm like "Woah, this one could be the intro for an Animal Collective song. And this one too!"

  • edited April 2022

I really enjoyed the beta and bought it asap, the ability to enter my own notes is really great! Also all parameters are exposed and organized in AUM, so I don’t quite see the complain about them. Scales also seem out of focus as you enter your own notes anyway. For me, except for a velocity range (but you can use three levels of velocities through accents), everything is perfect. For some more humanization, I like to add drambo’s humanize module after that. MIDI curve is also great for this.

Hey i think you have to leave the record mode

    Doug does Ooda:

Ooda is released and on sale for the first 72 hours. Only $3.99, will be $7.99 after that.
