How much jax? This might compliment Koala, with drambo. p-lock real time stretch?
Not sure if this is a old app or new. First I’ve heard of it.
Youtube video posted today (23rd April) - here's the spiel:
We are currently experimenting with extreme time stretching realtime sampler AudioUnit (Auv3).
A usual sampler (with real time recording of input) was not enough, so we implemented different time stretching algorithms, based on our pitch shifter technology. ( JAX P3, P2 for iOS) are available in the Apple Appstore for long time now but not very often downloaded ^^.)
From pitch shifting to time stretching, there are no large way. The basic principle is: A usual sampler pitches with time discontinuity, so that the sample will become shorter or longer in realtime. This is in facto the stretch, not the pitch. ^^
A pitch shifter then, that is connected in inverse fashion can compensate the pitch raise while stretching, so that, as a final result, the sound is time stretched, preserving the pitch. ^^ Everything possible in realtime. ^^
The only pitfall here is, that higher quality pitch shifters work in the frequency domain and need allot of CPU, so that a 8 channel stereo tracker is not able to apply it on each channel independently. The cheaper time domain pitch shifters (based on specialized delays) on the other side have quite rough sound quality... Frequency domain shifters also tend to get heavy phase and transient problems (especially with stereo) and time domain shifters tend to become gritty, while also shifting the transients slightly. THERE IS NO IDEAL PITCH SHIFTER.
This is an early alpha version, the recording was done via the MacBook Pro's microphone and Quicktime. The pitch shifter was exclusively the time domain version for performance easons. The performance with this kind of shifters (also used with JAX Unisonic) is superb.
cheers Jc
JAX is back?
Just had a look at their website. They have a lot of
Apps in development. Hopefully some will see the light of day one day.
Here’s a nice little post from their website about their YT vids:
I’m not sure what @espiegel123 has done to upset him so much!! :-/
It is one person, not a team of developers.
So? They refer to themselves as "we" on their website.
The fewer developers they have the less sense it makes to have so many different apps in development, with none of them apparently close to shipping. If they actually ship and app before moving on to the next one he/they might have enough money to "perscue" espiegel123...
So, he is one person, not a team as is stated on the website (unless he has hired extra people since I last spoke to him).
Hey man, I'm just stating facts. Don't perscue me!
Sampler and Timestretch are 2 trigger words for me. Will keep an eye on this.
Still find Make louder https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/jax-make-louder-audio-unit/id1474614677 occasionally very useful… Fingers crossed this sees the light of day.
Yeah, could be a lot of fun... extreme time stretching in an auv3 could be great for sound design purposes.
I wonder if the old apps will ever be updated like the filters, since they stopped having the ability to state save in AUs years ago. 😐
@klownshed : he is upset that I have mentioned problems with his convolution app and that I said in a discussion of demo videos for his piano app that I wasn’t impressed.
His claim that I jump into any thread about him and say negative things about him is untrue. I am sorry he feels this way and troubled that he has interpreted what I’ve said in this way.
It is unbelievable that you are being publicly targeted like that by the developer. It is so unprofessional, childish, and just plain odd. This person obviously has some sort of support needs and should not be communicating publicly while in their current state of mind.
It’s a shame. I think as a developer he’d get a lot out of this forum both financially and from a personal perspective if he chose to be inclusive and engage rather than be offended at the mere hint of criticism.
Regardless of what might have been said on this forum, his reaction isn’t warranted and is very unprofessional. Singling you out in particular is totally wrong. And doing it on the company website is wronger.
We all want the good ol’ Jens back.
Miss the days back when he argued about the UI choice with someone of the forum who said that he can not read anything and in the end he got really mad and qui 😂😂😂
I also remembered to have beta testing some really interesting apps that never saw the light of the day. It’s a shame 🥺
App looks/sounds really cool. Hope it will materialize.
....
I think the idea that one has a reasonable chance of doing well financially leads to a lot of disappointment. Not many music app developers earn a reasonable return on the time invested in strictly financial terms. A few do. If the incentive is largely financial, I think disappointment is the most likely outcome.
