Nice athmospheric wierdness, i like the gritty drones combined with the softer tones and noises and how everything slowly evolves. Thanks for sharing.
No problem, thanks very much for listening! It’s a weird old synth, but very interesting for sure!!!!
for me this was sheer terror. insane
It immediately got my attention because of the title, and it's fun that while the sound is nothing like I expected, it seems very fitting to the theme! Kudos on this one!
Ha! I’m gonna take that as a compliment!
Thanks very much!! I’m glad you got the feel of it! I must admit I love cyberpunk, and the sprawl trilogy especially, but for some reason I don’t get the music that’s usually associated with it… not that I don’t like it, but for something so kind of artificial and inhuman I need some music that’s also a bit odd, artificial and maybe even sort of spiritual… agh… I dunno.
I feel you, but to make a counterpoint... the hyperpop superficial stuff is also cyberpunk af, îf you extrapolate it becomes a soulless rendition of entertainment devoid of content for the sake of the commercialization of art, which is quite in-line with the predatory capitalization of every aspect of society.
Industrial/gritty can also be part of a cyberpunk feel, you have counter-culture-like movements challenging the status quo and expressing violent/uneasy feelings through music. Think an alternate future version of what RATM meant for the 90s.
And of course, we can also go with the whole concept transcendence of established art formats, genres and barriers, which is sort of the vibe I got here. Kind of like what Peter Riviera does with his augmentations and so on, but in music format.
Anyway, sorry for the long rambling, just a cool topic I like in general. I also love the Sprawl trilogy, but after reading the first 2 novels from the Jackpot series I feel the Sprawl may become my second favorite scenario pretty soon.
I’ve only read peripheral so far, it was a weird one, it took me several tries to get going with it, but once it got me I was hooked. I think that’s more about me than the book though!
I like what you are saying about the gritty side of cyberpunk music stuff! I think for me the hauntology stuff works best, maybe because cyberpunk is a future that we won’t have!?
Peter riviera!!!! I try to be as less psychopath as possible! I think I get what you mean!!
As for the super glossy hyper pop stuff, that’s another level of cyberpunk for sure! I can’t do that stuff, but it is as alien and as artificial as any autechre song for example
"It's the year 2035, the human race has almost completely been wiped out by radiation sickness. Broadcasts by the machines are slowly beginning to appear as humans become second to the world wide intelligence. Mind control broadcasts are common place..."
Absolutely wonderful piece @sevenape
Thank you very much! It was a snatch of shortwave transmission from the hive mind. Seems there is dissent from within the machine…
The Rastafarians were still listening to dub up in space during Neuromancer, so there's room for everything
NIce sound!
Epic, loved it.
The death rattle sounds remind me of the Synchrodyne PLL going crazy trying to track incoming audio. Never found a piece of software that could make those sounds, so I'm going to have to get Thermo soon.
A sample pack of these sounds would be cool. Either way, keep the tunes coming!
You are right!!! Man all this neuromancer talk is getting me itchy for my annual re-read!
Thank you!!!!!!
Thank you very very much! I can certainly link the loops I used making this if you like!?
I agree this is a special piece of software. It feels kind of alive!
To be honest I don't think I would even classify this as music (not that anyone cares about my classification 😏), but I still find it mesmerising and interesting to listen to. Hive mind, as you say. Thanks for sharing!
Hahaha thank you for listening!!! It’s noise I guess!? Self regulating feedback driven oscillations!?
Here you are

Oh nice. Thanks dude!
I'd like to hear what you can do with ID700 (imo, the app with the largest palette).
Svelte tones and a Gibson reference. Five stars.
I am absolutely terrified by that synth!
Thank you so much! xx
