Connect IPhone/IPad to Mac , change input volume

Have a question

When I connect my iPhone to Mac via usb , how do I change input volume so I can use it as input device efficiently ?

In audio/midi setup the input controls are greyed out ?

If I want to record to Logic/ableton I can’t input volume

If I am outputting audio from say AUM, then of course options are available

But if want to say record a sample from Apple Music , I can’t adjust . The volume buttons don’t work either in this case

  • When you say "connect via USB", do you mean using IDAM? That's not exactly a USB connection; it relies on some Apple magic.

And I think Apple will make it difficult to record protected content, like Apple Music, so things are probably working as designed. Unfortunately.

I mean Iam using USB port to connect both ,you can record music from iPhone to Mac , but I could any controls for “input gain”, for example let’s say I connect a mic

  • Ive recorded tracks from Spotify thru IDAM into Ableton so I can reference. You can’t adjust the input. It usually shows a few brief overs but nothing really audible.
