From The Movie / Module Supreme Cello

Not any specific movie. Just the idea of music enhancing the emotional impact of cinematic storytelling. Maybe a gritty crime movie set in what once was Hell’s Kitchen… what comes to mind for you?

  • Frank Sinatra returning from the war to his small town/village; gets a job in his brothers construction company but meets a young schoolteacher with a mysterious past.

  • That’s a better scenario @JudasZimmerman, I would just substitute Montgomery Clift for Sinatra.

  • A hard boiled detective comes home after a hard days work. He shuffles over to his leather chair and drops down into it, exhausted. His wife comes, rubs his shoulders and asks about his day. She offers to get him a drink to help him unwind. As she starts to walk toward the kitchen he grabs her hand, stands up and holds her in a tired but warm embrace. After a few moments of happy banter you can see the weight of the day lifting from his shoulders. He sits back down in the chair and when she returns from getting the drink, he’s fast asleep.

  • @made of wax that certainly is existential but would it make a good movie?

Just a scene. I closed my eyes and listened and tried to let my mind go wherever it wanted. I probably picked up a bit from your suggestion of a crime movie and @JudasZimmerman idea. As to whether it would be good? Depends on the performers and the director.

  • @MadeofWax i can see the actor but I can’t think of his name. Or even a movie he’s in. Very annoying, indeed! And, btw, thx for following me. Lol, I’m groping for 200.😉

It is a sad indictment of the music industry's current state that an artist of your caliber struggles to get 200 followers. I should have followed sooner.

  • @MadeofWax i certainly don’t feel singled out. I often wonder how many geniuses (not referring to myself, of course) have gone unrecognized throughout history. My music is all over the place, jazz, electronic, classical. Hard to have an audience that would dig it all as improvisation.

  • Great stuff as always! Definitely very cinematic. Classic noir vibes.

  • Thank you for listening @HotStrange. Much appreciated!
