Someone please let me know how they use this kind of app. I struggle to see a point to such a thing.
Some might like to grab/sample a bit of audio from Youtube for creative purposes...
...or use a Youtube clips for lyrics, backing tracks etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
I see. So, for sampling. But commercial music from all of these uncredited sources becomes a near impossibility.
So I can play Gavinski, Jacob, Loopop, and about 6 others all at the same time in a host. They can fight it out for my attention.
Youtube has a ton of public domain, and Creative Commons stuff. Plus you got all kinds of old speeches, talking, basically everything. Sure a decent amount is protected but there is lots of usable stuff.
Not to mention taking something and stretching/chopping/mangling/pitching and adding fx until a piece of audio is beyond recognition.
Blue Mangoo had trouble keeping up with u tube barriers with their app so don’t think our bother
12.99 for an app that might get defunct in a few days? Hmmm.
The name looks familiar. I wonder if it's the same dev since Blue Mangoo changed their name a while ago.
Interesting, maybe his dev went rogue. RS2000 is right, these kind of apps require regular maintenance and that’s a steep price for iOS not knowing if there’ll be updates.
I used every time the one from Blue Mangoo that now is defunct.
I really like sampling from YouTube directly in AUM but I will not try the fortune to see if this app will work for more then a Week😂
Tube AU still works as an effect in AUM. Videos play and you can sample by sending the channel output to a bus then receive bus on another channel with an app like Koala loaded as an effect, monitor on. 🤩
Example
AUM audio channel 1: Tube AU loaded as an effect, send output to Bus A
AUM audio channel 2: receive Bus A, Koala loaded as an effect
Try it!
Big thanks for this @Stuntman_mike 🤟🏼
You’re welcome! It also works well in Drambo too.
Drambo Example
Load Tube AU as an effect
Load one of Drambo Sampler modules, Ext In
A few weeks ago lot os us were quite disappointed about TUBE AU being not supported anymore
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/49536/the-end-of-tube-au
Well, this new app does exactly the same but with the addition of an audio only mode that is very low on cpu! I bought it yesterday and it works very well in its current version.
Let's be optimistic for its future and let's give some support to that courageous dev that decided to work on such a niche and complex app to update.
As mentioned by @Samu , this kind of apps are a door to endless sampling possibilities.
And thanks for the trick about Tube AU @Stuntman_mike !
@moher : thanks for your support
In audio mode, you don't have to keep the plugin window opening. You can close the window, the audio still come out
But maybe this is the guy who left the company?
Apologies if it’s a mixup, but given the app name and the similarity in developer name, could @DucAnhNguyen please confirm or deny any connection?
Thanks!
Just to report, about a month after its release that the new Tube Audio Unit has been very stable so far. It didn't gave me any problem and the solo audio mode is very handy and doesn't require to keep the player opened. CPU usage is very low in audio mode . I'm very pleased with it.
This is next on my to buy list so I’m glad it’s been stable for you. Pulling royalty free stuff off YouTube is a pastime for me haha
Does not work for me . Same error .
screen recording whatever you want to want to sample and then importing isn’t that much of a hassle imo, especially if you have Koala. There’s shortcuts to demux the audio or bring the vid into an editor like Lumafusion to export just the audio but again, Koala lol
If you have a 4 channel audio interface, like a MOTU M4, a hardware loop back is the perfect solution for internal sampling. Highly recommended.
BT?
Think I’m gonna take the plunge on this tomorrow. Does the app still seem to be pretty stable? What’s everyone’s thoughts on it?
If you want just the audio, Web Audio Player is still functioning from the dev Blue Mangoo (the one that abandoned Tube AU)
It's been working flawlessly since I bought it when it's been released more than a month ago. So far it's been performing better than its predecessor.
I own and love web audio player, but I have some ideas for the video content as well. Can web audio player play the audio from YouTube? I’ve never used it for that because I assumed it wouldn’t work.
Thanks! About to buy it now, I’m looking forward to it. Question, does it accept incoming midi/midi manipulators?
Yes the audio still works fine, but you must put into the FX slot. That's the only way I've got it to work recently
Ah that would be kind of a bummer for Audiobus but not bad for AUM I guess. I haven’t had a problem using it in the instrument slot, but I haven’t been using it for YouTube.
Yes it can. Doesn’t play video but audio pumps through channel.
