IAA to Audiobus wrapper support
The iOS ecosystem needs an IAA to Audiobus wrapper. Something that will load any IAA compatible app, and then load into Audiobus and allow the IAA app to work as if it were an Audiobus app.
The more I think about it, the more excited I get! :-) There are wrappers like this all over in the VST world, so it is definitely possible to do! So, if developers don't add Audiobus, but only add IAA, we'll still be able to use the app in Audiobus.
I can already think of a couple of popular apps that would benefit from this right now: iMPC Pro and Voice Synth. I'm sure there are others.
LET'S DISCUSS THE POSSIBILITIES!!! :-)

An Ideal idea would be fore the Audiobus team to integrate it into Audiobus and sell it as an IAP, but Any developer could step up and do this, and it would benefit all of us! :-)
So like what you can do with an app like Beatmaker 2 right now?
Audioshare can also do this, and with IAA effects apps, too (I actually made a thread about this exact thing a while ago and noone replied, hehe)
Yep, AudioShare works great. It can put any IAA instrument or effect into Audiobus. Is this what you want?

@CalCutta. Beat me to it. Though I wish (for simpicity's sake) I could load it into the effects slot too - I realise that with a bit of planning, you can workaround most of the issues that it looks like that limitation would cause.
as long as it has state saving....
Ideally, it would be something that just works automatically in Audiobus without needing to take any additional steps. That's why I think it would make a great IAP. :-)
Select the IAA app just like you would any other Audiobus app, from the Audiobus selections. Have it work just like an Audiobus app. I think it would be very useful! :-)
The idea would be fore it to be seamless. :-)
Using Audioshare's IAA implementation inside Audiobus is pretty seamless as it is. Choosing IAA directly from the input list in Audiobus would still require choosing another app in a separate menu, so it's not particularly more efficient (if anything, I'd argue that having Audioshare right there with the ability to record immediately is more efficient in the end, anyway).
Auria can do this as well (and with IAA effects as well as instruments), and with even wackier routing options than Audioshare
That's cool. It was just an idea. I have AudioShare. Can you save presets with it and use effects through it?
I prefer to have Audiobus listed as IAA node in my DAW....
That would be great too! Ideally, Audiobus would be a "one-stop shop" where everything is there and available and seamless. I definitely see these two things as places where Audiobus could expand with a useful IAP. :-)
Audiobus with a centralized midi clock that everything could sync to would be great too! :-)

This is my #1 wish for Audiobus, more than anything.
And to your other question, it doesn't look like Audioshare does state saving. That's a good idea though (for recalling IAA-setups). Actually, does IAA do any kind of state-saving?
I don't think IAA does any kind of state-saving, so it might be something that can't really be done yet......but then again, we don't know all of the little tweaks that iOS8 has done. Maybe it will be available at that time. :-)
That would be awesome. I'm ignorant to programming apps, but I wonder if there's a way that Apple could automatically make all music apps IAA compatible with iOS 8, or if it must be implemented by the developer.
More than likely, it would be something that apple makes available through the code, but that the developers would have to implement into their individual apps. I could be wrong, but that would seem to be the most likely scenario. It will be pretty cool when the NDAs get lifted and we are able to learn about most of the new stuff. That said, the NDAs were less strict this year, and @Sebastian has already stated that there doesn't seem to be much new stuff related to Audio in this upcoming iOS version...
Brilliant ideas!
It really has to be built in to AudioBus. If it is done in a separate App, then it can only be used once. AudioBus now has IAA underpinnings, so perhaps not too much of a stretch ...
Excellent, excellent argument @dwarman!!! I hadn't even thought of that! This makes it almost a necessity if more than one IAA app is used at a time...
Apart from iMPC Pro and Voicesynth, what other IAA only apps are there?
If there were a wrapper, the wrapped IAA only app wouldn't have the AB control panel.
I'm more interested in loading Audiobus output into IAA-only apps like iMPC Pro, so I can sample the output. Can you do this with AudioShare?
Also, there is some level of state saving happening with IAA, at least in Cubasis. Whenever I open my Cubasis projects that have IAA synths loaded, it opens back up to the state it was in. In fact it's that convenience that keeps me leaning towards IAA synths over AB-only ones. It would be cool if I could open a Cubasis project that had AB in it, and it would recall all of the AB synth's states for me.

True, but that is a problem with IAA, not Audiobus. I bet the Audiobus team would find a way to fix things...in fact, if Audiobus was capable of being an IAA as well, it would show up on an IAA transport bar then.... :-)

Good point!, see my above post. It looks like the Audiobus wrapper idea could benefit your idea as well then...

The iOS iPad Musicians group on Facebook has a list of IAA compatible apps. Maybe someone could cross-reference and find others? (I'm too lazy) ;-)

I wouldn't call it a problem with IAA — you have to have the AB SDK in your app in order to show it.

Good point, hadn't really thought of it this way. So yeah, a combo of this and a universal MIDI clock for Audiobus are on my xmas wish list. I better start helping old ladies cross the street!
Of the 25 people who have voted so far, opinion stands that this would be a very useful thing to have in Audiobus. :-)
I don't use facebook
could somebody please copy and paste that list?
