Truth in Advertising (Control) Riffler, ZOA, Aphelian, Rock Drum Machine, etc.
A song about the evils of advertising is definitely low hanging fruit, but with the advent of targerted advertising based on web history and research agencies looking for psychological ways to manipulate people into impulsive purchases, advertising seems far more insidious than it was back in the day of the public domain ads I've sprinkled throughout the video.
For anyone interested in how the sausage was made, check below the video for a long winded description like the ones you typically encounter when searching for a recipe on the internet. Thanks for watching and listening.
Rhythm guitar parts created with Riffler. An awesome program. You should totally buy it. Ooops, does that sound like advertising?
I send out the audio dry and import the audio file into AUM and run through Nembrini's BG Extasy amp , Mixbox, and Impulsation.
Lead guitars created by switching between/combining ZOA output and the midi from Riffler into Helium plugged into Aphelian. I randomly mixed the two into an AudioLayer guitar sample while dragging my fingers through the ZOA grid and changing the length parameter. More BG Extasy along with copius amounts of Nemrini Delay and a little Tone Stack Pro and Mixbox.
Vocals yelled at my iPad in a rare moment alone at home. Except for the dog. He appears untraumatized but he did have a bout of stomache trouble shortly thereafter. Harmonizr and Voice Synth, Mixbox and Impulsation added to make my warbling more palatable.
Drums by Rock Drum Machine, Hammerhead (needs more cowbell), and a dash of Fractal Bits for some swishy percussion during the guitar solo.
I made multiple mixes with Spatializer and tried to use the Mid/ Side Balance in AUM to make room for all the noise going on then "mastered" the whole thing in Cubasis 3.
Video effects created with DataMoshReactive and TouchViZ. I took the Public Domain commercials from the Internet Archive and ran them through DatamoshReactive along with some random TouchViZ stuff on the iPad and then sprinkled bits here and there with HitFilm Express on the computer.

Fantastic! Really enjoyed that. Mac is back in town. More cowbell!
Thanks Paul. I was nervous about sharing anything with vocals. My singing days are probably best left in the past. I also wasn't sure if the message would make me come off as " paranoid conspiracy man". The lyrics were the first thing that popped into my head and I've been wanting to use that "Swing Wing" commercial for ages. Thanks for listening and your support!
The first thing that pops into ones head is usually the best. I definitely agree about Riffler. One of the best apps ever.
Great stuff! Riffler is one of the coolest apps on the App Store. Dig the vocals as well!
Thank you @HotStrange! I used to split vocals with the other guitar player in my band back 30 years ago but these days I don't sing much except the rare occasion when I'm alone.
Riffler is my favorite app by far now. Like Piano Motifs but for guitar stuff.
Thanks again for listening.
For sure my friend! 🤝
Great vocals; very interesting how you constructed the guitar parts! Sounded a bit primus-y.
Sympathize very much with the experience of yelling at the ipad when alone - I sat one fine summer some years ago with the windows open and no shirt while yelling "I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE! AH! AHHHRG!" repeatedly until I got it right, and when I took of the earphones discovered that the neighbours absolutely were at home.
Thank you very much @JudasZimmerman . I can only imagine what shade of red I would have been if my neighbors had overheard me. I am curious to hear your recording now! I'm a fan of Primus so if I managed to make something that reminded you of them I take that as high praise.
