Opz takes over the interface in AUM
I have a TX6 as an audio interface hooked up to AUM. When I connect my OPZ to the ipad by cable it takes over the audio inputs as an interface. In AUM‘s settings both show up, but the tx6 can‘t be choosen. I could sync the opz by BT, but I prefer it by cable as I have it connected to a powered hub to keep it charged. what to do?
Comments
Try plugging in the OP-Z first and then the TX-6. iPadOS only supports one audio device at a time, but it SHOULD default to the most recent. Good luck!
Connect the TX-6 last. Whatever audio interface is connected last to the iPad will become the Audio Interface.
great, I‘ll try that!
That's a great piece of wisdom, @echoopera! But you can't run audio through the USB cable then, can you? You need to have a line out and through the interface to get the OP-Z sounds into AUM, correct?
Correct. iOS doesn't support aggregated devices like macOS, so the OP-Z would have to go LineOut to the TX-6 and that will be picked up by AUM via the TX-6 audio interface. Midi should still work over USB for the OP-Z though.
USB midi is fine for any devices whose audio has been upstaged by your interface. In any case the ‘last one to plug in’ rule annoys me to no end, especially if those things don’t heave a power switch, like my interface. Usually it means unplugging and replugging my interface in order to undo the switching that happens if I add an OP-Z or OP-1 to USB after the fact, which I find happens a lot with me. To get around this, I’ve gotten myself a USB power switch extension cable so I can reduce wear on the port and cable. (I’d be careful buying those though, because some mightn’t be data-capable. Always read the fine print.)
For some reason, I found out I can have both my Typhon AND Model:Cycles work with usb audio. Connect m:c first, then the Typhon. Somehow the Typhon acts as audio in for the iPad, I receive the audio on a channel in Drambo and can add effects to it. Then the main audio out of Drambo/the iPad goes to the m:c and the whole enchilada comes out of the main out and headphone of the m:c. But the m:c audio doesn’t go through Drambo, so can’t apply effects etc. So I guess iPad CAN have two audio interfaces, one for in and one for out. Perhaps try if you can set your device to ‘switch off audio out/in via usb’ and play around with it.
Hows it going with the tx-6, interested in your experience with it?
it is great. finding the right cables is a bit tricky, i was too stingy for the TE ones, but i got a few adapters from amazon which work well.
thos tiny knobs work better than I thought, the sound is great, the in built FX and drum sounds are pretty useless, using it is ver straightforward and easy.
I love it!
