For every hour I use the new 2.0 of Drambo, my smile is getting wider!
Such an product! Wow!
But, today I revisit the different Samplers that you can load (as modules), and, I searched for some infos/tech limitations around sampling in Drambo…
In the different sampler modules, what’s the limit in seconds that I/we can sample?
Can’t find any good documentation regarding each module? Where can I find that?
Overall - such a joy to discover Drambo 2.0!
The setting in the clip launcher regarding starting from first pattern seems not be saving. I have to uncheck every time I start Drambo. Is anyone else experiencing the same?
Also, sometimes when I have made some changes in a project I can not save directly, I have to choose "Save as" and overwrite the current project.
Other than that Drambo 2.0 is AWESOME!
@ErrkaPetti If I remember correctly, the recording time limit in Flexi is 60 seconds.
Have to double check with Sampler.
Module help is now more detailed (yet still compact) than in previous versions, including specifics about the file naming scheme when importing a set of samples for auto-mapping in Sampler.
What else are you missing in module documentation?
Thanks for quick response!
The time limit seems to be undocumented what I can see - thought that (at least) the Recorder could do longer recording than 60 seconds?
But, as usual, with the arsenal of great apps installed on my iPads there’s always workarounds!
Yep, the recorder can do more as it used to be the way to record track output (now, of course, we have awesome stems recording!).
Can't you record a longer sample into the recorder and then move the resulting file to a Flexi or a sampler?
I'm sure it's mentioned in previous pages (a search on thread tool would be helpful) ,
is there a way to record AU automation ? I added the plus icon to add automation (mod wheel) on AU synth but can't select it
also no automation is recorded in realtime (I've enabled it on settings)
I guess it's not possible but had to ask in case I do something wrong
I'm recording my automation tutorial today, so I'll have a look at this. I have a feeeeeeling that it isn't in yet (EDIT: Yes it is, I don't know why I doubted my memory!), but tbh I can't remember. There's so much in Drambo and so much has been added/changed, it's a nightmare trying to keep everything straight! These tutorials are helping me as much as anyone else.
Should be able to just hit rec & tweak direct on the AU GUI to rec AU automation? No need to use the plus icon (all being well)
ok,
it works for any parameter except mod and pitch wheel
How would you go about to record a midi effect f.ex fugue machine or atom into the Drambo sequencer?
@robklotzby Please scroll back, the answer is there.
Is it the post about Streambyter a couple of pages ago?
Yes. Streambyter, FreEWI or "MIDI Recorder with E.Piano" running in the background will all work.
I've seen various Win 10 users having issues with zero size uploads on different WebDAV servers...
Could you please try Total Commander from https://www.ghisler.com
plus the WebDAV plugin: https://ghisler.fileburst.com/fsplugins/webdav.zip
Thanks. Tried to record Autony midi effect with midi route and streambyter. Strangely enough they both record chords instead of the midi sequence.
Ok thanks, yeah it is working with Total Commander, but strange that I had it working ok with Drambo v1 from Explorer and had a folder shortcut. I also tried another PC with Windows 11 and it also showed the same error.
Any of you guys used eg pulse inside drambo? If so does it play nice?
Hi again (regarding the different Sample-modules in Drambo)!
@rs2000 answered earlier today, and, mentioned the max 60 second limit in Flexi Sampler, but, when loading wavefiles into Flexi Sampler I could load in samples that was more than four minutes?
As I mentioned earlier, are there any written documentation to all Modules in Drambo, especially the four Sampling modules (with clear description how every little function is working in real life)?
Exactly.
I've updated the help in quite a number of modules and tried to keep the description as short as possible while adding enough details to work with.
Tell me what you're missing and I'll see what I can do.
so how does quantize work on the piano roll sequencer, what division is it quantizing too?
The division that you can see in the grid.
Zoom in to get finer divisions.
That's because Drambo does not yet record mod-wheel, pitch-bend and other CCs
Cheers!
Would you like to own a DigiTakt from Elektron? How about testing one out in Drambo? If that sounds interesting to you, have a look here and watch how I use a great Rack Module to do just that:
It's a real treasure trove.
So many great and deep creations by different artists.
Some downloads are zip files (you need to decompress them first, I'm using Readdle Documents because it also connects with Drambo projects and sample storage via WebDAV), some downloads are .drproject files (can be opened in Drambo directly) and some are .drpreset files which need to be imported to the respective folder in Drambo.
When you download a preset file, Drambo will prompt you to save a certain type of preset.
Make sure you remember the preset type shown in the dialog!
I am following this conversation closely and am already learning. I am digging into dRambo and LOVING It, but I want to record vocals and guitars and such into my tracks and I am curious about which module will serve me best.
Thanks @rs2000 - super helpful as always. I’ve also had a couple head-scratchey attempts at getting projects loaded. This clears it up nicely.
Definitely these two: Sampler and Flexi Sampler.
Sampler has a key-to-sample recording mode in which you hit a keyboard key or pad and as long as you hold it, it will record audio and automatically map it to that key.
Flexi sampler has, like the name says, both a quite flexible playback as well as a nice recording engine that allows you to record in different ways:
In Loop playback mode, changing the project bpm will cause the loop to stay in sync but change its pitch.
Consider adding a Pitch Shifter module to fix that (it's not a big issue with drum loops but very useful with musical loops).

I've had good success with Flexi for this.
But these days I use Loopy Pro AU. I just find it more intuitive and flexible.
You're welcome!
