@Samu i think he may have been referring to some other kind of meaning for parallel processing …if you put a low pass on the first layer and then anything on the second and play both notes at a time, you can clearly here that the low pass on the first layer effects the second layer. It is routed in series but essentially bypasses the layers that aren’t active.

    Then it’s a bug…

I like this behavior, I cant imagine many scenarios where i would like parallel punch fx behaviour

What is a new MIDI Feedback port?

Then select it as a track input etc.

thx, do you know if there is any difference from the „Drambo” port beside name and separation?
(why nor used Drambo1, Drambo2 etc?)

Indeed there's a significant difference. Choosing 'Drambo' will send MIDI data to the outgoing MIDI port which is not connected to the 'Drambo' input port. These are separate streams that until now could only be connected using an external app like Streambyter, Mozaic etc.

The output port of 'MIDI feedback' on the other hand is directly connected to the 'MIDI feedback' input port so everything you send it will also be available on its input.

Does this allow sending midi upstream? Like breaking the sequential flow paradigm of drambo?

    Yes 😊

Can we have this for audio please 🤣

We have it already, and it's been available for a while now. The modules are called "Feedback Receive" and "Feedback Send".

Nice. I use drambo everyday but im still a noob because I just use it to sequence AUv3

  • Does anyone know if there's a delay with the Midi feedback module like there is with the audio feedback module? I figure there is probably at least a one buffer delay, which would be negligible, but is it many times higher than that as with the audio feedback module?

  • edited December 2022

@wim I've just measured it, it's about 5ms at 256 samples audio buffer setting and about 2.5ms at 128 samples.
The delay that comes with Drambo's MIDI feedback is one of the reasons why @giku_beepstreet hesitated for so long adding it.
In many cases that's acceptable though.

Thanks! Good to know. I figured there had to be some delay. That's manageable.
TBH, there are very few scenarios where I would want to or need to send Midi upstream, but it seems to be a common request.

Yep, by far the most common request was recording MIDI from an AUv3 and that has been answered two-fold: An internal MIDI feedback port and the new REC button in an AUv3 module with MIDI out to record into the sequencer directly.

Those delays are just one buffer time at 44.1 kHz sample rate, so not bad at all.

  • I vote that in the next update there should be the possibility to include a light theme in the menu, as it was until the last update.

After the last update, it is only black and, for example, when I open the list of modules (library) it blends with the entire Drambo. I understand that some people prefer black, but if it was possible to switch to light it would be great.

It's nice feature indeed but suffers from the same 'issues' that Logic has for now...
(It can be worked around using extra tracks but still not as easy as doing a 'bounce midi' which is very high up on the request list for the next Logic update).

ie. you can record the output from the midi plug-in to a clip but you can not 'render/process' an existing clip thru the midi effects and replace it with the processed clip. (ie. convert a 'chord track' to an 'arpeggio track' as one example).

Nail that and it's close to perfection :sunglasses:

    Blame me...
...I keep my iPad in light mode most of the time (it just looks 'cleaner') but when it comes to Drambo I prefer dark mode as the bright menus are like a 'flashlights in the face' when working in dimmed light especially since the rest of the UI is dark...
(Also there was some graphical issues with some other things when using the light theme and the quick solution for this was to force dark-mode).

Feel free to request the return of the light mode over at the Drambo forums.
    http://forum.beepstreet.com

Personally I'd love to see a zoom option for the UI as I suffer from degrading eye-sight.

    Cheers!

@giku_beepstreet Problem I reported with floating qwerty keyboard is fixed with latest update, thanks.

Some new modules are still not appearing in the tagged section though - no Convolver in the FX section?

Also, quite often pressing the ‘+’ to add module when the tagged section has been previously used will open to the tagged section but no modules are actually visible (see screenshot) until the Tag button is pressed to exit that mode and pressed again to re-enter it, at which point they will be visible again. Hope that makes sense?

iPad 9th Gen. running iPad OS 16.1.1.

It's not a big deal, but it would be nice if it could be switched. I love that Drambo is dark, I just think I probably navigated through the library quicker when it was contrasty.

I understand that different people may have different preferences. So being able to switch light/dark would be great.

Thanks. I'll write about it on the beepstreet forum.

I also have this bug. But I just now noticed on the beepstreet forum that someone has already mentioned it and Giku wrote that he is fixing it.

  • @echoopera What’s your current audio interface setup for iPad and Drambo?

  • Guess there are lots of us on vacation already
But i'll try to ask anyway... what are y'all using as "Audio tracks" within Drambo?
(For those 'frozen' tracks or audio imported from other apps (like older IAA stuff))

Flexi or other Drambo sampler, Koala, Loopy Pro?
Trying to settle in a Drambo-centric workflow lately

Same question. Sometimes I just want to commit a great midi track, other times I might play guitar and want to record a long improvisation.

I have been using Drambo’s recorder or flex, then dragging the recording into a Loopy Pro instance, kind of like Ableton’s session grid. But I would love a good, synced audio “timeline”-style track. And not the 4Pockets one, which I find too fiddly.

  • Yeah... we are facing the same drama it seems
I was eyeing 4pockets multitrack recorder first with the holiday discount. But then someone made me realize Loopy is available on my iOS (12). Still don't feel like it is IT but guess i'll purchase the unlock

Same here. AUM is a really inspiring environment but there’s such a gap between inspiration/jamming and editing pieces into a working track. I’ve been trying to migrate to drambo, but like @mistercharlie I am uncertain where to keep a guitar track. I’ve hunted for videos, and I see nothing much that applies, alas.

The Ableton sale ends January 11; that’s my deadline to figure out an iOS workflow that accommodates midi and audio.

I like multitrack recorder the best

  • edited December 2022

Alos the real practical answer from me is that I render and the use garage band to record vocals.

I like garage band because the projects are saved on the cloud so they don't use space on my device

  • Also, if drambo sent timeline info to AUv3 multitrack reecorder would work efortlessly

currently if you loop one scene the clock keeps running, I would like it to loop.

And of you start from another scene it starts from 0:00, I think it should start from whatever timestaamp that scene is if you layed them on a virtual timeline

that change would make multitrack + drambo the perfect combo

plus 1 to this exact scenario.
I'm new to Drambo, but was surprised at how fast & effortlessly I got some things going. Having said that, I really don't need just a groove box; I'd like to build full tracks with longer audio tracks like guitar parts & vocals.
I have just recently got 4Pockets Multitrack recorder, but getting it & Drambo to play nicely together seems like rocket surgery to me right now. A way to have longer clips play & still use the pattern/scenes within drambo sounds very appealing to me.

To be clear, I know that I can send the stems from AUM to Cubasis. But then that sort of cauterizes the creation of new parts; I'd like things to be able to evolve. Also, starting out in Cubasis would sound like a good idea, but I've never been able to quickly just noodle in that app and then add parts as I go.

Drambo is so almost there, and setting up a guitar track is actually easier than in AUM.

Writing music on iOS feels a little like Leonard Shelby in "Memento" trying to solve his wife's murder with only 80 percent of the police file; there always a dead end after a great burst of insight.

Join me in asking Drambo for a (virtual) timeline to make multitrack work!

I think I should voice this on their forum

multitrack doesn't accept some CC to change loop points? that would be good.
Have you tried using different instances for different drambo scenes? Each one triggers a different multitrack timeline?

it accepts notes, from C to B, so yes you could do it like that BUT it's a pain in the ass sorry

    Oof... that sucks
Yeah... better stick with what makes you confortable

  • I guess one could use a synced OP-1 field to record the guitar part. That’s more expensive than an app though.
