How can time signatures be changed in Drambo?

Indirectly, by changing the pattern/clip length(s).
    This has been added recently.

Ah I see, but the metronome will still run in common time - right?

You can just make your own metronome on a dedicated track?

Yeah, doesn’t work if you want to sit down and just jam. Prep is a vibe killer for me. I’d rather have it working automagically.

So spend a couple minutes making some metronome “presets” that you can instantly load via Drambo inside Drambo. Then there is no prep and you can do whatever odd time sigs you like.

I use Drambo hosted. Can I still do it?

Sure, you just have one separate instance of drambo as your metronome project. eg. pattern length of 6 and speed set to 8th notes for 6/8. Shot/flexi sampler playing your click sound.

  • With that suggestion, you could have a Drambo project with e.g. 8 different metronome tracks ready to go.

I was going to suggest a Track preset with different metronomes in each clip, but I see that Track presets don't save the clips data. Has it been discussed whether Track presets also could (optionally) contain clips data? I think I would find that useful quite often.

Seems to be some bugs with Track presets, btw. The track name is not recalled. I get double MidiToCV when I insert a preset from the Main + operation, both when saving the preset with or without a MidiToCV.

Yes, this was discussed and seems to be on the roadmap. In the meantime, you can try to use some of sequencer modules like Gate + velocity sequencer. For such a simple thing as a metronome, it should be sufficient and can be saved within any preset.

  • I have recorded a bunch of stems and wanted to use webDAV to quickly move them to my desktop to put into Bitwig. However, because of the filenames, I am encountering an error (I am using Windows 11). I suspect it has something to do with the way Drambo names the files - using a colon for the timestamp.
I can't even rename the files via webDAV.

The workaround is individually exporting each stem to Audioshare, renaming there and then zipping them and sharing to my cloud backup. This is long and tedious.

anyone encountered this and have a strategy to overcome it? thanks!

My strategy is to never use filenames that could cause troubles under Windows.
I'll put some thought into how to solve this though...

  • @rs2000 agreed, unfortunately I don't see any way to change the default way that Drambo names the files :/

    Cheers

  • with the latest Drambo you should see the files in On My iPad/Drambo/Samples/Recordings/. renaming them in the Files app is working here. and i can rename them via webDAV with the Owlfiles ipad app.

  • @bangzero thanks! I've been holding off upgrading until I finish some 'mission critical' tracks, this seems a good incentive

  • if you'd rather wait, Owlfiles is free for this purpose. it even shows up in the Files app.

OK I have a nice solution for you 😊

Download Total Commander from https://www.ghisler.com/ and install.
    Download the WevDav plugin: https://ghisler.fileburst.com/fsplugins/webdav.zip
Run Total Commander, navigate to the downloaded zip file and hit Enter or double click in the zip file to install the plugin.
Hit Alt+F1 and choose Network Neighborhood.
Enter the WebDAV folder and hit F7 to create a new connection.
Run the WebDAV server in Drambo and note the URL shown. I recommend giving the new connection a similar name because the address can change.
Under "Server", enter the IP address and port number separated by a colon, hit OK and Enter or doubleclick on the new connection.
When copying files from Drambo, Total Commander will automatically rename the files so they are Windows compatible.

    You're welcome!
I've reported the file naming issues nonetheless because a backup over WebDAV should always end up in consistent files (i.e. Drambo projects referencing audio or other files that didn't need to have their names changed in the first place).

  • I‘m desperately trying to route aftertouch through Drambo (AUv3). Is that not possible? On the midi monitor I can see Drambo receiving polyphonic pressure, but there’s no aftertouch arriving in AnimmogZ.

Hello everyone. I have a problem-I turn on Polywave in Drambo and the presets are played on one note independently. Playback is not enabled at the same time. The notes on the keyboard are not pressed. In Polywave, I switched Local/Host modes. Nothing helps. I didn't find anything in the settings either. Can someone tell me?
I'm sorry-I asked the same question in the Polywave topic.
This is not a Drambo problem. Checked in other applications.

I have an UI issue that I believe is a bug, but perhaps it is by design?

I'm revisiting the amazing Klevgr sequencer from Drambo patchstorage, with its 12 tracks (matching Slammer/Ting). I want to see all 12 tracks on the screen in grid view. Tapping the grid icon in upper right corner, I get 8 tracks, plus the pads/scenes stuff at the bottom. Here is the issue; if I use the vertical size thingie on the right to drag the pads down to its minimum size, revealing all 12 tracks, suddenly the rack for a track pops up, and I'm left with only 4.5 tracks in grid view. Any way to get all 12 tracks in view?

This is on a 2018 standard iPad. The Klevgr video demonstrates viewing all 12 tracks, but that was for Drambo v1.

  • I’m wondering why we can’t P-lock the rec button on au MIDI generators?

  • Thanks @Artvarg, @bleep and @BroCoast. Noted in the beta team.

@drewinnit Did the WebDAV solution work out for you?

  • @rs2000 only just had a chance to sit down and try your suggested steps - and it works! This is very helpful, thank you. Saves me a hell of a lot of fiddling about

It seems to confirm the colon in the timestamp is the culprit. the automatically renamed files from Total Commander replace it with an underscore

thanks for this tip, never would have figured this out by myself!

    Great to hear that! 😊
Better automatic file naming (avoiding colons and using "-" instead) is on the todo list.

  • @rs2000 good to know it will be fixed, i'm very grateful that Drambo is in active development. it's the best music software I have ever used. thanks again! ✌

Is anyone able to make MidiTapeRecorder work in Drambo after having recorded into it using Model 15 (or Animoog) internal keyboard with some y-axis sliding? I can't for the life of me get the playback to sound the same.

In AUM I get it to work in a straightforward manner. In Drambo I have tried this after recording into MTR:

    • move MTR to the left of M15
    • Put M15 inside an Instrument rack and turn the rack MPE toggle on
    • Add a Midi Out to Drambo feedback after MTR, and put M15 on the next track with "receive always" midi

I get to hear the initial note, but nothing of the y-axis keyboard sliding is happening. I know Drambo clips don't support MPE, but I was under the impression that using MTR should work. Is it user error or a bug? Since MTR works fine in AUM this way, with perfect playback, I don't suspect any issues there.

  • @bleep Have you checked with Drambo's MIDI monitor to see where the messages are being dropped?

If y-axis sliding generates Channel Pressure (aftertouch) messages, that may be the problem. Drambo does not always handle Channel Pressure gracefully.

  • While recording into MTR, a Drambo monitor displays the slides as Poly AT. A monitor when playing back MTR does not display any Poly AT, so yeah, there is that. I believe this has been a rather long-standing issue (?), hope it can be addressed at some point. At the same time, there are only so many hours in a day, and Drambo development has been amazing.

  • Thanks for reporting @bleep, a fix is on the way 😊
