I start from scratch and simple just to hear what CV Glide does. It’s evident that it’s basic use if for legato/portmanteau. I’m just failing to use two glides with two oscillators with the maximum math module to create that Dolby detuned attack us a later to tuned thing.

Instead of using two glides, try the Unison module after the CV Glide module.
The Unison module has detune for oscillators inbuilt.

Thank you! I finally got it going taking your advice. Then I added a graph envelope to gradually bring them in tune.

  • I have a Drambo AU hosted on track one of a Drambo project. The AU is used as a drum machine.

I want to be able to p-lock a step in the AU to send its audio to the reverb return (track B) in the main Drambo instance.

The thing is, I can’t just press the sequencer step in the AU drambo and twist the FX send knob in the host drambo. I imagine there is some way to do this though. Any ideas?

Maybe, use Drambo 8 Outs as the AU plug-in. Use the second output to send, twist its knob in the AU to record the p-lock.

    Very cool.

    I'm glad it's happening now.

  • It's time to replace my good old iPhone 8 Plus.

Does the camera notch of newer iPhones obscure/disturb any controls when Drambo is running in landscape format? It would be great if one of you could post a screenshot.

No, that area is simply not used, this is from my iPhone XR:

And thanks @uncledave! I will try the 8-outs trick.

    Ahhh....
You could send through a cc message/s using the cc generator in dRambo main
or bear in mind, you could use a cv signal in via the audio or cv input.

  • The Drambo Multi 8-out AU is the perfect drum machine to use in Drambo as the host.

I use it (and/or any other “multi audio out” AUs) on the main track mixer view, then allocate 8 tracks for each of the 8 drum sounds. This way each drum sound can have their own individual effects etc (eg. a gated reverb on the snare, a compressor on the kick, some delays on the hats etc etc)

  • I’m courious why you would multi-out when using Dambo as a AU drum machine when Drambo has a lot effects itself.
Unless of course you wanna use fab filter, rymdigare or some other fx sweet heart app. Then I get it. I’m just courious if there are other reasons 😊

Multi-out to route the tracks to the host Drambo, not to other apps!

    Semi advanced sidechaining,

    Ipad 9.

Maybe not using a DAW or even audio, then effects. As sidechaining seems to shape sound also. Effects at midi stage.

    Thinking if I sidechain synths.

    Am using Drambo compressor.

Do other compressors sidechain as frequency zones?

So if a synth plays a low key it will only sidechain and a high key not?

And will app be multiout in drambo.

Or if you need to sidechain a synth. I think you need to put compressor next to synth and then sidechain in Drambo mixer.

Do you need a compressor for every synth ( if theres an actually an app, with frequency zone sidechaining )

    ?

( I have only setup Drambo sidechain ) So not sure if TB ( transparent ) is frequency zones. Or if you have to setup for every synth or if its multiout etc )

  • Sorry folks maybe a repeat but I coulndnt find with search. How would you make more than 2 sends on the channel? Without tons of auxiliary amp modules and knobs..I need 4

  • Hello! I am new to this forum and it is very difficult for me to go through all 55 pages .... Maybe someone has already suggested this, but I will ask for these features:

    1. The ability to change direction of the sequencer: FW, BW, Pendulum, Random.
    2. If there is no such possibility or there are huge difficulties with this, then make a module with a similar sequencer, as well as the ability to control its direction by CV.
    3. I don't know if it's possible, but add some complex operator module like Expr in Max/MSP, Pure Data or Audulus.
    4. add support for MPE, the ability to record sequences with all the nuances, such as polyphonic aftertouch and pressure.

But without all this, Drambo for me is probably the most indispensable app on the iPad. Starting from MIDI control and ending with the creation of unique instruments. Thank you for this!

To add more Auxes create the amount of auxes you want by adding more Tracks
on the Main Track sequencer and on the individual Tracks add the Audio Input module
and route the output to the Tracks that you’ve created as returns.
Here’s a screenshot from my current project with an extra send channel labelled “C”.

There are the Gate+Vel and CV Sequencers available in the Misc/Utility section of the modules menu.
You can modulate the direction whichever way you please.

The Graphic Modulator was used but you can also use
other LFO’s and the Time modules again in the Misc/Utility section.

    1. I don't know if it's possible, but add some complex operator module like Expr in Max/MSP, Pure Data or Audulus.

Are you possibly looking for this?

    1. add support for MPE, the ability to record sequences with all the nuances, such as polyphonic aftertouch and pressure.

Polyphonic aftertouch and channel pressure has a module in the Midi section
and MPE isn’t ready yet at this moment in time.

But without all this, Drambo for me is probably the most indispensable app on the iPad. Starting from MIDI control and ending with the creation of unique instruments. Thank you for this!

Thank you! I know thsi function, and i can program main sequence direction... But this could be achieved simply by some button in the sequence parameters, and also duplicated in comp mode, it would be much more convenient. For example, I could turn on sequence inverting from some step, and from some step jump to another random step. Now i can jump only to specified steps.

Yep, i know about it and use Graphic Modulator every time) But where is direction in sequencers?

Nope) I mean simple function with IF/THEN/ELSE operators.

Thank you! I find it! But im wait for full MPE support, to record MPE parties with polypitch, CC74 in main sequencer.

Huge thanks! You helped me a lot, I always learn something new! Despite having a lot of experience with modular synths and little experience with the Max/MSP and PD environment, I still wondering at the limitlessness of this app.

    Yeah, I hear you.
The other evening I wanted to reverse a midi "Clip" that I had recorded
and I realised that I needed to jump through some hoops so
I moved on to something else.
A simple reverse or random button would've been welcome but
in the nature of dRambo we sometimes have to build our own.
Talking about that, shameless plug here,
I designed a drum machine based upon the Korg Volca dRm the other day.
I was window shopping for one and then ended up designing one in dRambo.
Now I can buy other stuff. :)

If you look on the Graphic Modulator it shows "Speed" and it's +1-.
+1 is forward and -1 is backwards.

Processing in Drambo works on signal level like in a modular synth.
A few possible ways come to mind:

    • Use the Graphic Shaper to define the ranges tor "Then" and "Else", generating binary True/False output(s)
    • Use the Math => Function modules and plain numbers or any signal to build your logic (note that the A=B function accepts a very small difference between the inputs to consider them equal)
    • Use the N-1 and 1-N Switch modules that can be indexed by an "analog" signal
    • Use the Gate & Velocity Sequencer indexed by its time signal if you want quick, quantised adjustment of ranges in your IF clause
  • @rs2000 thanks! this should really help. I try it today)

  • How is midi export coming along?

  • @yonhorizon said:
How is midi export coming along?

Not yet a high priority feature. If you need it now, a good way to export MIDI is hosting LK as a MIDI processor and record and export your work there.
Since Drambo is pattern based and MIDI files are linear, LK is a good option as it supports pattern lengths up to 999 bars so you can record a full song there.

  • wimwim

MIDI Tape Recorder is good for that too. Less distraction than LK IMO if all you want to do is capture the MIDI and export it.
