Simon Cann free patches

I have just received this mail from my subscription:

"You're receiving this email because you downloaded the free version of How to Make a Noise: a comprehensive guide to synthesizer programming. Please reply to this email and put "unsubscribe" in the subject like if you do not wish to receive any future messages."...

...Hello everyone

Three things...two about free stuff.

How to Make a Noise patches

The patches accompanying the free download of How to Make a Noise: a comprehensive guide to synthesizer programming (and also the paperback book) are now available to download for free (previously they cost $10).

If you haven't already got them, you can get the patches: here (follow the link, then hit file >> download and you'll get the zip file). This isn't the long-term link (you'll note my website still needs updating), but I wanted to make the patches available to you at the earliest opportunity if you don't already have a copy of the patches"...

This the link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwcMjQxqTTuQMDkwYWQyODktNWQ3NS00YzllLWFhNmUtZDc4M2E4ZmE0Njdk/edit?usp=sharing

Don't be wrong: Every line results on the same downloaded file (htman_patches_july_2007.zip) so you have to do it once.

Comments

  • ooh, more Z3TA+ patches (drool). Thanks. I might have to check out his book too!

  • Actually, I have the (full version) book.

  • Thanks fjcblanco for putting out the word so quickly. I'm sorry that it has taken me a while to catch up.

For anyone who was wondering, I can confirm that this link is legitimate. However, please be aware that the link is not the long-term location of the files (in other words, this link may cease to work at some point--the patches will always be free, but just in a different long-term link from my website). If you're on my mailing list (http://noisesculpture.com/keep-up-to-date), you'll hear about the new location first.

May I mention two other things.

First I have just published a new book: The Murder of Henry VIII, the first book in the Boniface series. This is a piece of fiction—there are no synthesizers here. You can read more about it at: simoncann.com/henry

And as a secondary issue, I’m keen to offer a small thank you to anyone who buys a copy of The Murder of Henry VIII or who can help generate sales. To this end I would like to offer a free book to anyone who buys The Murder of Henry VIII or who can persuade someone else to buy a copy.

So if you want one (or two, or three) of my books for free, please tell your family, friends, and your social media contacts. For details of how to get the free books, head over to the Noise Sculpture website: noisesculpture.com/get-free-books

Thanks for your time, and enjoy the patches.

    Simon

  • It's ten years since I wrote How to Make a Noise: a comprehensive guide to synthesizer programming. It's time to make a few changes:

    • The book can be downloaded directly from the Noise Sculpture website (there is no need for an email address or to wait for the download link to be sent). The patches (which are now free) are included as part of the download package with the book.
    • Permission is granted (under specific conditions) for readers to redistribute the book and patches package. Readers may (for example): email the book and patches, share the book and patches on a torrent, or make the book and patches available for download on a website.

The book and patches are available from: noisesculpture.com/comprehensive.

And please note: the previous temporary download link for the patches no longer works (since the book and patches have been combined into a single freely available package).

While I'm here...I've still got a few free books left to give away. So if you're interested in getting one of my other books for free, then head over to: noisesculpture.com/get-free-books for details.

    All the best

    Simon

  • How to make a noise is fantastic, I had the free version then bought the kindle version, along with your fm synthesis and iOS synthesis book. All well written and I learned a lot from "how to make a noise." I haven't done too much fm yet, someday.
