All the apps are available again.
Please, @OnfraySin, can you update the title of the post?
Don't panic, Mr Mainwaring.
What a great exercise in critical incident response! 🚨
Not yet. The beta still is gone and the current version is broken on the last version on AUM.
This is not about your perception of the developer or the quality of the product, there is a title informing that the apps can not be purchased anymore, a lot of people won't follow the new messages and they will think that they're gone.
Zerodebug apps not only include Studiomux, there is also Touchable which is used by a lot of Ableton Live users.
Talking about Studiomux, it still works perfectly to send audio from iOS to a Mac via USB cable, I use 8 channels without a single audio glitch.
It also can be used to make all the Mac MIDI ports visible on iOS, including the IAC virtual ports. So even if you don't use the audio part, it let you to sequence all the AUM instruments and effects from your desktop's DAW.
And the only broken part, using an iOS device for processing FXs, can be fixed by combining Studiomux and VisualSwift (it includes two Audio Units to send audio between different iOS hosts, so you can send the audio from Studiomux to AUM without glitches).
But never mind, I will create a new post, reporting the new situation.
Which is broke for a lot of users too (Live 11.1). And without solution or official response since Nov.
Agreed. I can only imagine being an iOS dev, working on weekends for hardly any income and being constantly pressured to fix this or implement that. It’s not worth it.
@Pynchon now you have my attention
Is there a post giving details about this, or can you explain how here? I’d love to get SMUX and AUM singing together again.
EDIT: just had a look at the visual swift app, looks pretty intuitive, but any advice gratefully received.
There’s still something odd here. I bought modstep ages ago but it’s not showing up in my purchased apps.
I don’t recommend to anyone buy any zerodebug apps.
Right now, is 100% abandonware.
Have anyone get any updates from them? Such a pity with Touchable not being more developed. Gotta find some replacements.
Is it dead? Nobody on forums responding, Studiomux beta expired. There is no contact information, only forums. It looks abandoned. The apps are in the store, but some problem with developer profile (as mentioned by user on zerodebug forum). Now it asks you to buy it again, not possible to re-download.
Never heard of buy it again instead of redownload
The whole thing is a shame
zerodebug has a track record of doing this. Touchable, Modstep.
i've been using studiomux for a while now and when it works, it works well, but it's a pain having to set it up every time i want to use it (the plugins don't connect to the ipad automatically) and with no support or development, i feel i should move on to something else.
i've been trying to find a more elegant solution and have found nothing on the software side, but i'm reluctant to add more hardware to my setup. i love the one lightning cable solution between the ipad and the mac that studiomux gives me.
i've been looking at audio interfaces, but i don't need audio ins or outs - i just want to be able to connect the mac to the interface with a usb or thunderbolt 2 cable and then a lightning cable to the ipad and get multiple audio outs from the mac to the ipad. has anybody got any suggestions (hardware or software), because this is starting to drive me a bit potty, if i'm being honest!
And…this is why I didn’t want to change the title.
All apps from Zerobug are DEAD
I want an updated ModStep!
The most perplexing thing is that there was a StudioMix beta release not long after the App Store release that fixed some critical bugs...and it never got released to the app store...it was so much better...Pascal (the studiomux dev) disappeared and stopped posting to the Zerodebug forum at all.
My big hope was that Ableton had bought them out and were going to unleash ‘Ablemux’, but alas no, not yet anyway.
I’m still using Studiomux everyday, with Visual Swift to send and receive to AUM, but it’s generally a rocky ride, with apparently no prospects for improvement. A real shame, so close to something amazing. Apart from the 2 way audio on multiple devices, I love having all my desktop midi controllers available individually in AUM.
As mentioned on another thread, this Lewitt interface looks interesting. It doesn’t have the right feature set for me (specifically no Hi-z guitar input), but it at least demonstrates that iOS to desktop and back is alive and kicking.

The beta that didn't get released solved the problems sending audio back and forth from the studiomux host ... with negligible added latency...there was no need for tricks to get the audio to AUM and back. Really mysterious why it didn't get released
No great surprise, but reports on the Zerodebug forum suggest that Studiomux is no longer working (no audio) with iOS 16.
Totally DEAD
I swear that if people paid even half of the price of the equivalent hardware for apps, there wouldn't be a money problem for developers 😂
I think the main thing here is we just want to know what’s going on. I was part of an active community of beta testers and then one day the developers, with no warning, just disappeared without a trace. A “sorry everyone, we’re stopping/pausing/selling.” would at least have given some clarity and shown some respect to the users. Meanwhile the apps are still for sale and people are pitching up on the still active Zerodebug forum wondering why they don’t work.
Check out the iConnectivity interfaces. They connect to two computers/iPads and allow routing multiple audio channels between them.
Also, take a look at the USBStreamer ADAT adapters. Might be able to use them to create a multi-channel digital audio bridge.
thanks for the reply. i'm not sure how i would use the USBStreamer, but on my travels through the internet, i found something called a Soundblaster E5, which might possibly be a decent solution - https://toucharcade.com/2015/11/03/creative-sound-blaster-e5-the-first-gaming-sound-card-for-serious-ios-gamers/
Europe has to come up woth a law that let us backup software we have bought! It's the only way of future proofing. Apple won't do it willingly
Not dead. Super dead
Possibly resurrected but not sure how successfully. a 5.501 version was just installed in testflight
I just got a notification too. :perplexed:
