Here’s my one! Drone on…
Very relaxing to get drowned in drones in this thread and very inspiring. Get them going
Gave it a good shot. Ended up changing DAW half-way through the project, and not gonna get it finished. Might see if i can knock up a quick work-in-progress mix, just to submit something 'on the day'...but not sure.
Looking forward to hearing what everyone has done.
Cheers

It’s past midnight here, but I did have to do a few takes before I was satisfied with the result. Drone day never ends, anyways. Happy to contribute to the flow!
I’ve had a sample I made with Rings that sounds like the harmonics in a double bass string and I’ve been meaning to use it for a drone, so this was the perfect opportunity. Two copies of the sample play from a Digitakt through a saturating filter, an envelope follower, and into rings, which is set in sympathetic strings and set to infinite decay. This is then parallel processed through beads and ran through an LPG, which is opened by the envelope follower. All of this goes into AUM for some shaping with Mixbox.
A second voice is Microfreak to NTS-1 through Mixbox to Borderlands and FAC Alteza. This ended up being more static than I hoped.
Lastly, the sample from the Digitakt also goes into Borderlands where it is pitched down and Ring-modulated.
Everything is recorded in one take in AUM from a master channel with Mixbox.
Thanks @jwmmakerofmusic for the inspiration

thanks for the nice comments and a special thanks for the great drones post here.
anybody want to extend it for a few more days?
I was just working on something I’ll try to finish and post tomorrow.
I quite like the idea of extending a drone by a few days 😊
@willg @GeoTony Good idea. I was late too.
Maybe @jwmmakerofmusic would like to change the thread title to something like "Drone time"? 😄
Towards the start, that actually reminds me of the whirr of skateboard wheels on concrete! 👌
These are all great, my favourites so far: @JeffChasteen and @rs2000
I do find it a challenge to be still and listen attentively to all these drones, I find myself needing melody and beat to stay engaged in a piece.

My attempt - recorded yesterday and just about uploaded on the day US time (I’m in the UK 😉). I think it’s a drone - I mean it certainly drones on a bit! Thankfully cropped to one minute due to Instagram.
I screen recorded a pad (in Moodscaper I think?) and used it as a sample in Koala. Looped it an octave down and an octave up, and played the occasional note at the original speed, and tweaked most of the Koala effects. Then added another sound - a piano recorded through a reel-to-reel in Decent Sampler which I applied Bleass Shimmer and Chow Tape Model warble etc. Then ran the audio out into my Digitone, with more reverb, delay and chorus applied. I also played a drone-ish sound on the Digitone using a Keystep MIDI keyboard off screen. Then the audio ran out of the Digitone into my Sony TC-366 reel-to-reel for some crust, then out of that into my Tascam DR-05x as an audio interface direct into the iPhone camera. I did mean to record the audio onto tape, as you can choose to output the actual tape recording (with any tape related audio warmth and warble etc) as it records, instead of just the audio. But I didn’t have time to try it…
EDIT: Not possible to embed Instagram clips on here?
LOL I added "and beyond". 😂 I gotta catch up soon on listening to these masterpieces and sharing thoughts! Then attempt another drone piece of my own. Meanwhile, back to sleep I must go!
Am i not too late?
Looking forward to it!
Thank you!
Indeed I felt like giving it a little texture on top but it's more a proof of concept than an actual composition 😉
@rs2000- yes, I watched your vid with bleary eyes on my tiny phone screen, piqued my curiosity. I’ll watch on a bigger screen later, take a closer look.
I was going to add some bass harmonics to mine, but in the end forgot, whoops. Was a bit rushed to get it out in time in the end.
another day, another drone…
and more great stuff. my ears are happy.
Okay….
I’ve gotta get more sleep 😣
here’s the corrected link.
So, has this now become an 'Everyday is drone day' thread?
Yes absolutely! 😃 Let's keep this thread droning on, and on, and on, and...
Lovely drones everyone. All of them were great
I'm so sorry I missed drone day, I was in prague doing family stuff and drinking beer. I'm back now so I'll see what I can do, I am very very very up for an 'every day is drone day' thread.
Well I did add "and beyond" to the title. 😉 Looking forward to hear what you create!
