Does anyone ever have an issue when sliding an effect node left or right, and it just scrolls the page most the time? I have a hard time getting the page to not scroll, and I just want to enable or disable the node. Am I doing something wrong?
Edit: perhaps I was just not patient enough to let the screen stop scrolling before I swipe the node..

When I swipe nodes left/right I don't get page scrolling. Make sure your fingertip is entirely inside the node.

  • I bought two incredibly inexpensive FX apps that are currently on sale. While checking them, I found the following seemingly unassuming but very useful additions to AUM 1.4.0.

AUv3: Add bypass button in title bar.
Tweak plugin window appearance when bypassed.
Avoid occasional lag while moving/resizing plugin window.

  • To add my impressions to the long-tap to replace feedback:

    • iPad with Magic Keyboard or other external mouse feels broken: I should be able to right-click instead of /ever/ needing to long-press using the mouse. Long-press is only for touch interaction. I would be able to forgive the extra step in my workflows more easily if it wasn't punishingly slow with a mouse
    • While it's true that some other components similarly show the rename/recolor popup on tap, claims that this is a consistent experience are overstated: I still tap (not long-press) to swap hardware inputs/outputs. There are other reasons for that but it adds up to an experience which not only feels inconsistent, it doesn't feel designed to be optimized for actual use either (with a supposed consistency as the primary reason given).
    • Beyond user research, I'd suggest that swapping instruments/etc. is commonly done in a rapid flow of experimentation, a or series of reworking sound, whereas relabeling or recoloring is less likely to be reworked iteratively.
  • Trying to build a suitable system that will make use of the copy and move update. This isnt a major issue but why do I still need to choose a midi channel in aum channels. If my keyboard routes to a Drambo midifx. This then outputs to synths via aum matrix and midi channels are set on the drambo mfx outputs? So using Drambo to just switch synth control, using drambo midi functio/ per track basis?

  • 1.4.2 update

    • Fix occasional FilePlayer silence when tapping Rewind while playing.
    • Don't clear SessionLoad MIDI controls on session CLEAR.
    • Work around iPhone landscape orientation bug introduced by iOS 16.
    • Various layout fixes for iPhones with notch.
    • Add 32 frame buffer size option.
    • Don't hide keyboard shortcuts bar, since this made the text input settings icon disappear when using external keyboard.
    • Clarify mic/rec permission message.
    • Don't scroll to first channel on device rotation.
    • Ensure plugin windows are not opened outside of visible screen area.
    • Fix calculation of MIDI controlled indexed parameter stepping in cycle-mode.
    • Support indexed params with non-zero minimum value.

I saw that, might be worth it’s own thread…

Seems my feature request got missed of a response in the initial melee , so repeating my request @j_liljedahl to :

add /8 & /16 denominators to time signature transport section , if possible ?,
as some of my odd meter songs don’t play properly (bar length wise ) with the only available /4 .

    Thanks for ongoing efforts .

Thanks for bringing this up. Any app that limits me to 4/4 time is a huge no -no.

You can do more than 4/4 that is terrible who plays in only 4/4 anyway? You can't do something like 7/8 or 9/8 though only 7/4 or 9/4, etc up to 16/4.

In the past though not on the latest update I would help with syncing problems by just setting AUM to 1/4 and playing around with the sync quantum number to match the App I was syncing to and had some success.

Note that the only thing really affected by the AUM time signature is its built-in metronome. Also the sync quantum setting (used for Ableton Link alignment and auto-start/stop recording) is given in X bars.

  • Many thanks for update @j_liljedahl
You may be aware but apps need to be opened in portrait first before turning to landscape otherwise problems persist.
It does say “workaround “ in your update so may be referring to that..

  • @j_liljedahl :Thanks for the info. So it’s like Beatmaker 3 in that the metronome keeps playing in 4/4 regardless of what we play?

  • @DMan : Thanks. That is strange .. 7/4 but not 7/8? I guess that just constitutes a work-around. Good to know though, for sure .

With apps you mean AUv3 plugins, right?
And I assume you’re on iOS 16, which has this bug. Unfortunately it’s a bug in iOS itself, out of my control, and you’ll see it in any host that supports both landscape and portrait.
The workaround is to keep the auv3 window open during rotation.

Is it possible to open a window with a plugin in full screen? To close the keyboard icons and the checkbox at the bottom? I open Visual Synthesizer to full screen, but I can't open the AUM window (it can be stretched, but maybe there is a secret how to open it completely)?

There's no "really full screen" mode for plugin windows in AUM (yet), only "maximized" which you can get by double-tapping the plugin title bar.

The word "yet" gives hope. It would be great if it could be expanded to full screen. I use Visual Synthesizer and fullscreen mode in AUM would be very useful.

Yes I'm planning to add it. Note however that one must have some kind of visual element so one can get back out from fullscreen. One idea is to have a narrow bar at the bottom or top (which will anyway contain the iOS "homebutton"-indicator etc), or a small button drawn on top of the plugin. But such a button might cover some important part of the plugin UI, so it would need to be movable.

It's great that you're planning to add a full-screen mode. A button would be a convenient option. Or the "Exit full screen" menu that pops up when you click. But as far as possible-that's the question.

  • Apologies if this has been asked before, but might it be possible @j_liljedahl , in a future update, to have the option to find projects by "recently opened"? Now that I have many, many projects in AUM, it'd be so great to be able to quickly access the ones I'm currently working on. Cheers!

You need to re-save the projects before closing them (even if you haven't changed anything), otherwise the modification date (and I believe that's what AUM shows) won't change.

Thanks @rs2000 . I always do that, every time.
I'm assuming that the reason I can't figure this out, is that I have lots of different folders... What I was hoping for was something like Ableton has, where in the drop-down menu I can select from "open recent set....", and then a list of about 30 of the most recent projects appears, regardless of which folder they are saved in.

  • That would be a useful feature indeed @Kashi.

  • Would this be so difficult to ‘lock’? Or maybe I missed it?
