which SWAM saxophone should I buy

Which is the most versatile? Baritone, tenor, alto or soprano. I'm only in the market for only one

That’s an interesting question. I guess it depends on your music, really. I treat instruments as if they were another voice in the choir (so to speak), so I prefer to choose instruments to fit a particular frequency spectrum. I find I tend to return to the tenor sax again and again.

    Tenor

+1 I personally Googled the sax used by most famous sax players and the tenor appears to be most popular 🤷🏽

  • Tenor. Most useable.

  • The most versatile as far as the range of notes you can play should be the baritone.

  • Another vote for tenor then alto then soprano then baritone.

  • 100% depends on what genre/style of music you’re trying to make, my dude

I'd listen to recordings you love and determine which sax you most want. Likely tenor or alto.

  • If you're trying to emulate jazz tracks, go for tenor, as it's the most used. If you just want a nice acoustic sounding tone and want to add FX etc, it will really depend on what kind of music you're making.

There are plenty of alto saxes in jazz. It really depends on what you are drawn to and what instruments it needs to sit with.

  • I purchased Alto, and will probably purchase tenor too. By the way, the songs I'm most interested in using Saxophone for are "jazzy pop" Van Morrison and Steely Dan tunes

I associate those bands with alto. But the SWAM models are not as differentiated as real instruments. One sax is probably enough.

  • I had the betas but none of the sax apps, if I recall correctly Tenor was my favorite.
