Taking a Mac Mini on the road
I've been using my guitar with a Roland GR20 but would like to take the better sounds I have at home e.g. Spectrasonics / Kontakt out for gigs. My Mac Mini is all solid state apart from the fan so I think it will be pretty robust and could offer a cheaper and easier programming route than a Muse Receptor and has thunderbolt and USB 3.0 ports for speed.
I can cobble together a chain as follows but would appreciate any knowledge on a more compact system.
Gtr - Roland Gi-20 Hex to midi converter - Midi/USB box - Mac (+ small monitor + bluetooth keyboard) - Zoom Tac2 thunderbolt interface - mixer.
I have an IPad Air and Mini but the new docking stations from Alesis and Focusrite only seem to work if the iPad is the main unit and seem to be mainly for recording (which I won't need).
